No Safe Discharge
Celeste filed an interference complaint against Lena while Daniel treated the infant's falling oxygen level.
The problem was mild but real. It bought hours of safe observation and prevented anyone from converting a legal fight into a medical order.
Charge nurse Mara Venn reviewed the bedside chart. Her hand stopped over the transfer field.
"This baby was in Nine before she was in Twelve," she said.
"How?" Ivy asked.
Mara glanced at Celeste behind the glass. "A warmer alarm during shift change. We moved two bassinets. The chart system went offline for twelve minutes."
Celeste entered with security. "Ms. Park's access is suspended. Dr. Cross, discharge when clinically appropriate."
Daniel stood close to Lena as he removed her temporary badge, making the surrender visible. He slipped nothing into her hand. He only said, "The physical lab retains cards for five years."
Mara escorted Lena toward the exit. At the elevator, she pressed the wrong floor and kept her eyes on the doors.
"I moved them back," she whispered. "Then someone changed them again."
"Who?"
The doors opened on the records basement. Mara stepped away before answering.
"Ask who created Orison Blue."
