Chapter 25
A Smaller Place With One Key
Celia chose a flat with one key and no spare hidden by agreement she had not made.
Martin rented near the harbour and joined a sailing club that met on Saturdays instead of consuming a year. They sold the house, repaid the disputed deposit costs and separated their finances before filing for divorce.
Sam asked Celia for coffee.
"When?"
"In three months. If neither of us needs it to prove a point."
She accepted the future invitation because it contained no rescue.
On opening night the Marlowe doors jammed. Nina kicked the lower hinge, Edith supplied oil from her sewing case and Rowan filmed the entire undignified repair.
When the doors finally opened, the queue curved around the block.
Celia stepped aside and let the first woman enter before her.
