We Absolutely Can't Let Her Off

She turned her head to look and realized that Claire Bennett and that man had long since disappeared.

"You think Claire Bennett can get away?" Tanya Sterling ground her teeth viciously and snapped, "Even if she runs to the ends of the earth, I'll drag her back to pay with her life! This matter can't just be let go!"

Naomi Pierce's eyes reddened as she forced down her grievance and said, "This matter can't let Dad know, or he'll be very worried about me."

Because she was worried Victor Bennett would find out, she couldn't contact the Bennett family.

Presumably Ethan Sterling and Tanya Sterling also didn't want the Bennett family to know, so for the time being she wouldn't have to worry about things being exposed. She hadn't expected such an unexpected gain.

When they heard Naomi Pierce bring up the Bennett family, Ethan Sterling and Tanya Sterling's expressions instantly changed.

Tanya Sterling looked at Ethan Sterling and said coldly, "Ethan, last time Claire Bennett already ruined your engagement party with Naomi like that, and you let it go. This time you absolutely cannot let her off!"

A trace of coldness spilled into Ethan Sterling's eyes. "I know."

Originally, he had wanted Claire Bennett and Naomi Pierce to get along peacefully, but he hadn't expected Claire Bennett to refuse a toast only to be forced to drink a forfeit.

Since that was the case, then he couldn't be blamed for being ruthless.

Claire Bennett and Julian Sterling were driving home.

Just now, she had originally wanted to follow them into the hospital room, but Julian Sterling had pulled her away. In the end, she didn't refuse and obediently left with him.

"Hello." She tried her best to sound calm.

Ethan Sterling's voice sounded by her ear. "Claire Bennett, you left without even an apology. Doesn't your conscience hurt?"

Claire Bennett curled her lips in mockery. "I can apologize, but Naomi Pierce has to kneel to hear it."

"You!" Ethan Sterling gritted out. "This isn't over between us!"

"Mm." Claire Bennett replied indifferently.

"Claire Bennett, if you're willing to apologize properly and do as I say, then there's still room to turn this around..."

Before Ethan Sterling could finish, Claire Bennett directly hung up the phone.

A look of disdain appeared in her eyes.

He wanted to use this to threaten her into submission? In his dreams!

Claire Bennett was so angry it made her liver ache. She hadn't expected Naomi Pierce to be so vicious as to use the child in her belly to frame her.

"Are you okay?" a concerned voice sounded beside her.

Claire Bennett turned to look and found Julian Sterling looking at her. She gently shook her head. "I'm fine. I'm just a little angry."

"Everything will come to light."

Hearing the words "come to light," Claire Bennett's heart suddenly skipped a beat, and she looked at Julian Sterling in disbelief.

Could it be that he believed her?

She asked curiously, "You believe I didn't push Naomi Pierce?"

"You're impulsive, but you're not reckless, and you would never stoop to doing something this low-level. You didn't do this," Julian Sterling analyzed seriously.

He knew this girl was unyielding, tough, and brave.

He believed her without the slightest doubt or hesitation.

Hearing Julian Sterling's words, a wave of warmth welled up in Claire Bennett's heart.

She realized that having someone believe in you was such a wonderful thing. Her gloomy mood, it turned out, could be healed by just one sentence.

But what did he mean by that? He made it sound like he knew her very well.

It had to be said that Julian Sterling was right. Although she would argue her case when things happened, she would never do something so underhanded.

Claire Bennett felt much better and said sincerely, "Thank you for believing me."

She thought that perhaps what she felt for Julian Sterling was not merely gratitude, but that she really did like him a little.

But when she thought of those words she had overheard, her mood sank again.

Just her liking him was useless. Julian Sterling had no feelings for her at all. They were only a contract marriage couple.

Still, with Julian Sterling's comfort, her mood improved a lot.

She might not be able to solve this matter on her own and could only seek outside help.

Claire Bennett remembered that when Sean Shaw left, he had told her to call him if she ran into a problem she couldn't solve. Now was the time to use him.

She decided that after getting home later, she would call Sean Shaw and ask him exactly how this matter should be resolved.

After returning to the apartment, Claire Bennett urgently took her phone and went into the room.

Seeing how secretive she was acting, Julian Sterling's eyes darkened.

Without letting it show, he walked to the door and did something unbecoming of his status: he eavesdropped.

From inside the room came Claire Bennett's voice. "Hello, Sean..."
