Chapter 12
He Is Also Called Julian Sterling
Claire Bennett's hand froze, and the piece of meat she'd just put in her mouth plopped down.
What! Had she heard that right? He was also called Julian Sterling?
She looked him up and down, her eyes full of shock.
After hesitating for a moment, Claire Bennett asked, "Your name is exactly the same as Ruby's older brother's..."
She'd thought it was a fake ID and a fake name. This was his real name?
Suddenly, Claire Bennett had a realization and asked, "Did you change your name on purpose? Are you also working part-time as his stand-in?"
Julian Sterling chuckled. This woman's imagination was pretty good; she'd even come up with an excuse for him.
"Mm," he answered softly.
Julian Sterling looked completely at ease, without the slightest bit of guilt, and Claire Bennett didn't think too much about it. She quickly accepted that he had the same name as that imperial CEO.
At dinner, Julian Sterling gave her plenty of face and ate everything clean.
Claire Bennett didn't dare let Julian Sterling touch her bowl again. She told him to sit and rest and took the initiative to wash up herself.
When she came out after cleaning up, she suddenly felt a little awkward.
The apartment only had one room, one bed.
Did that mean she was going to share a bed with Julian Sterling tonight?
Although Claire Bennett had accepted the fact that she'd suddenly gotten flash-married, actually sleeping with a strange man was still a psychological hurdle she couldn't quite get past.
Claire Bennett spent a long while psyching herself up.
She took a deep breath.
There was no turning back now. Things had already come to this, so she could only keep going.
Bracing herself, she handed Julian Sterling the bath towel and other things she'd just bought and said shyly, "You go shower first."
Julian Sterling's gaze fell on her bashful face.
For some reason, what she said felt suggestive.
Claire Bennett sat on the bed, listening to the sound of running water from the bathroom, and what had happened that day at the Sterling family home suddenly surfaced in her mind.
Julian Sterling's perfect body appeared in her mind, and her cheeks grew a little hot.
Just then, the sound of a text message pulled her thoughts back.
She picked up her phone and glanced at it. It was another message from Ruby Sterling: "Claire, how are your preparations going? Do you know how to use those things? Want me to teach you?"
"Claire, think it over carefully. Showing up with a baby bump to slap Ethan Sterling in the face—that's a double blow, an absolute instant kill..."
Claire Bennett sent her an emoji telling her to get lost.
At that moment, Julian Sterling's face darkened in the bathroom. He pinched the bridge of his nose. Only after showering did he realize that among the pile of things Claire Bennett had stuffed into his hands, there wasn't any sleepwear!
He suspected that woman had done it on purpose.
Even though she didn't know who he was, she was still treating him like the sucker taking over the mess, going to great lengths to seduce him!
With anger simmering inside him, Julian Sterling hastily grabbed a bath towel, wrapped it around his lean, powerful waist, opened the door, and walked out.
Hearing the bathroom door open, Claire Bennett turned to look over on instinct.
One look nearly made her cough up blood.
The man stood under the light, tall with long legs, and most importantly, he wasn't wearing any clothes!
His honey-colored skin glowed faintly, and his sexy Adonis belt was half-hidden beneath the bath towel, enough to make anyone's blood race.
Claire Bennett didn't dare look too much. Blushing, she said, "Why aren't you wearing any clothes?"
Julian Sterling laughed.
This woman still dared to act like the thief crying thief?
Wasn't she the one who had deliberately failed to give him any clothes so he'd come out naked?
"I'm going to take a shower." Feeling the atmosphere was awkward, Claire Bennett could only use that as an excuse to escape into the bathroom.
Julian Sterling stood in front of the five-foot bed, his brows knitted so tightly they could crush a mosquito.
Wasn't this bed a little too small?
Claire Bennett was trying every possible way to seduce him. He had to do something to protect himself.
Julian Sterling's gaze landed on the comforter set aside nearby. Expressionless, he walked over, spread it out, and lay down on the bed holding it.
By the time Claire Bennett finished showering and came out, she saw that Julian Sterling was already asleep on the bed in the room.
He was covered with a thick comforter, but it was pulled all the way up to his neck, not a bit of his body showing.
Claire Bennett was full of confusion. Wasn't he hot?
She had bought that comforter as a backup in case the weather changed, and had been planning to put it away tomorrow.
The man had his eyes tightly shut, long lashes resting over his eyelids and casting a small patch of shadow. His handsome features were flawless, like a careful masterpiece crafted by God.
Julian Sterling seemed to be asleep, his breathing even and long.
Since he was asleep, she wouldn't have to face him, and Claire Bennett felt a sense of relief.
She'd been busy all day and was also physically exhausted. She yawned, climbed onto the bed, and lay down beside him to sleep.
Claire Bennett closed her eyes, only to discover she wasn't sleepy at all.
She wanted to sit up and get a glass of water, but unexpectedly, a strong, sturdy arm came pressing down across her chest!
Julian Sterling, whether because he felt hot or for some other reason, had kicked the comforter onto the floor.
His warm breath sprayed against her fair neck, and his arm was pressing on her chest!
"..." Claire Bennett didn't dare take a deep breath.
She didn't know whether this man was deliberately taking advantage of her. Hadn't they agreed that if she didn't consent, he wouldn't force her?
Claire Bennett reached out and tried to push the man away, but he was as immovable as a mountain, not budging at all.
By the end, she was tired from pushing and could only give up.
Fortunately, aside from hugging her, the man didn't make any further move.
Claire Bennett twitched at the corner of her mouth. She hadn't expected someone's sleeping posture could be this bad!
Before she knew it, her tense body gradually relaxed, and not long after, she drifted off to sleep.
