Your Immediate Boss
After a night of rest, Claire Bennett had returned to normal.
She looked much more alert. Logically, she should have been able to leave the hospital today, but Julian Sterling had sent her a message telling her to stay and rest for one more day.
He also said the address of the residence had already been exposed, and a lot of people were staking it out.
Claire immediately gave up the idea of going back.
So she lay in the hospital at ease, waiting for Julian Sterling to bring over that so-called video to see whether it could prove that Naomi Pierce had struck first.
Fortunately, Ruby Sterling came to see her today.
As soon as Ruby came in, she hurriedly asked, "Claire, how are you? It was really terrifying. Are you feeling any better now?"
She didn't know about what had happened between Claire Bennett and Julian Sterling last night. Seeing Claire Bennett's pale face from lack of sleep, she thought Claire must be physically unwell somewhere.
Claire gently shook her head and said, "Ruby, don't be too nervous. It's just an ordinary cold and fever."
"Really? You're okay now? But you don't look too well."
"I just didn't sleep well."
Ruby stared carefully at Claire for a while and found that aside from looking a little pale, her mental state really was pretty good. Only then did she finally relax.
Next, Ruby sat down and chatted idly with Claire about everyday matters.
Of course, the first thing she did was complain that Claire hadn't treated her like a good sister—something that big had happened and she hadn't told her. Claire could only apologize.
Seeing Claire lower her head with the look of someone who had done something wrong,
how could Ruby possibly stay mad? In the end, she could only sigh helplessly.
Anyway, Claire had already been rescued. Although she had a fever, at least it hadn't led to any truly serious consequences.
Only now did Claire realize that because of her own momentary bad decision, she had caused Julian Sterling and Ruby Sterling to be unhappy. It really was her fault.
She had already started to regret it.
To keep Ruby from dwelling on the matter, she immediately changed the subject and brought up what had happened last night. "Ruby, you don't need to worry either. Julian Sterling has already gone to deal with it. He said surveillance cameras caught Naomi Pierce and me, but President Sterling would only help if I joined Sterling International."
After saying that, she sighed. "I've already signed the employment contract."
"What?" Ruby was dumbfounded. She took a moment to sort it all out before finally understanding. "You mean... you've joined Sterling International now?"
"That's right."
Next, Claire briefly explained how Julian Sterling was able to help get the surveillance footage, but he needed to pull strings through President Sterling, and President Sterling had an extra condition. In the end, she signed with Sterling International and became one of its designers.
Ruby almost couldn't resist clapping in praise.
She hadn't expected that her brother would actually be able to use this matter to smoothly get Claire into Sterling International and keep her by his side.
Wouldn't that mean they could build their relationship every single day?
If he showed his presence in front of Claire every day, maybe Claire would quickly fall for someone else, and that so-called white moonlight wouldn't matter anymore.
She had thought before that her brother was a tree that would never bloom, but she hadn't expected that after blooming just once, the methods he used would be so astonishing. She had no choice but to admire him!
Ruby said, "Claire, Sterling International's prospects are pretty good. You'll definitely have a great future here. Work hard and do your best!"
"Mm, I'll work hard."
All of a sudden, Ruby seemed to think of something.
She cleared her throat and said hesitantly, "Claire, you do know Naomi Pierce is also at Sterling International now, right? And she's your immediate boss."
