Ch. 133 - Made a Wrong Choice

Chapter 133

Made a Wrong Choice

Julian Sterling stood quietly, his gaze falling on the small space in front of him.

The hospital bed wasn't very big. It was still a little cramped for two people, but Claire Bennett had invited him to sleep with her, and he couldn't refuse.

Without hesitating for long, Julian Sterling lay down.

He was tall with long legs, and once he lay down the hospital bed became narrow. Claire Bennett did her best to make room for him. She slept on her side and could only reach out to clutch the bedsheet so she wouldn't fall off the bed.

Julian Sterling lowered his eyes and suddenly reached out to pull Claire Bennett into his arms.

In an instant, she was pressed tightly against his chest.

Other than at night when Julian Sterling was restless in his sleep, they had never been this intimately close. This was the first time they had been pressed together like this while fully awake.

Claire Bennett's heart gave a heavy thump, and a faint flush rose on her cheeks.

She could feel the hot breath brushing over the top of her head. It wasn't hard to imagine Julian Sterling's face was just inches away; if she lifted her head, she might be able to see him.

So Claire Bennett didn't dare lift her head and rested her face against his collarbone.

The room was very quiet, filled only with the sound of their breathing.

Julian Sterling's Adam's apple bobbed, and his eyes instantly darkened. He felt that he had made a wrong choice. In this situation, how could he possibly fall asleep?

But he really was a little tired, so he quickly pushed down the thoughts in his mind and closed his eyes.

Before long, Claire Bennett felt Julian Sterling's breathing grow light and shallow. He had probably fallen asleep.

She secretly lifted her eyes to take a look.

Julian Sterling's handsome face was right above her head. His eyes were tightly closed, his eyelashes long and thick. She couldn't help reaching out to touch his face, and a faint ache of sympathy rose in her heart.

In the early hours of the morning, Julian Sterling woke up.

The whole time, Claire Bennett had stayed leaning against him without daring to move even a little. The bed was just too small; all they could do was lie there without turning over.

After opening his eyes, Julian Sterling's gaze quickly became clear. He let go of Claire Bennett and got up.

Thinking of something, Claire Bennett said, "Julian Sterling, I want to stay here for another couple of days. Why don't you go back first? You can't rest well here, and you'll be exhausted."

She had chosen to stay on purpose because she wanted to keep an eye on that nurse and see whether there was any weak point she could use.

When he heard that Claire Bennett was actually taking the initiative to continue staying in the hospital, Julian Sterling looked surprised. He had no objection, but he was curious.

Still, he said, "If you want to stay, then keep staying. I'll come see you every day."

Recently, Julian Sterling had been arranging a new apartment near Sterling International. He planned to have Claire Bennett move out of the place she'd been living before.

Although the previous apartment was pretty good, it was unfortunately a little far from Sterling International. Too much time was spent commuting every day. If it were closer, Claire Bennett could sleep a little longer each day.

But he didn't want to live separately from Claire Bennett, so the place still needed some modifications.

If Claire Bennett was going to continue being hospitalized, then the timing would work out perfectly.

Claire Bennett said, "Then go back and rest at night. Just come see me during the day."

"Mm." Julian Sterling nodded.

Claire Bennett sighed in frustration and said gloomily, "There are still ten days until Ethan Sterling's lawsuit against me goes to trial. I don't know whether I can find a lawyer to defend me during that time."

Sean Shaw had said that no lawyer in New York dared take her case, and there probably wouldn't be any in Chicago either.

This was a really ball-aching situation.

Since lawyers were hard to find, getting more evidence would only benefit her more. Otherwise, who would want to stay in a hospital for no reason?

Julian Sterling glanced at her. "You need a lawyer?"

Claire Bennett looked troubled as she said, "Yeah. What happened this time also counts as a criminal case, and Ethan Sterling's side has no intention of letting me off."

Besides getting more evidence, having a good lawyer would also give her a better chance of winning the lawsuit.

Julian Sterling was silent for a moment, then said, "I'll find you a lawyer."

Claire Bennett exclaimed, "You'll find one for me?"

Ethan Sterling's methods were so formidable that even Sean Shaw had no way around them. Could Julian Sterling really have some way to do it? Or some channel to find someone?

Maybe Julian Sterling didn't know the exact situation.

After thinking it over, Claire Bennett still decided she should remind him. She said, "Ethan Sterling has already made his move. Right now, nobody dares take my case."

"Don't worry." Julian Sterling answered with certainty.

Seeing how confident he was, Claire Bennett suddenly felt like he wasn't joking. Could he really find someone?

After this incident, Julian Sterling had completely overturned Claire Bennett's impression of him.

Things Sean Shaw couldn't do seemed easy for him, and she trusted him deeply enough to feel that he wasn't joking at all.

Claire Bennett didn't hesitate for long before saying directly, "Okay, then I'll trouble you with it. After this is over, I'll thank you."

Hearing the words "thank you," Julian Sterling's eyes flickered.

Maybe letting Claire Bennett owe him a favor wasn't a bad choice.

...

Over the next few days, Sean Shaw finally managed to break through all the obstacles and came wanting to help, but Claire Bennett told him she had already taken care of it.

Only after Sean Shaw learned that she had gone to Julian Sterling did he give up the idea.

He told her to let him know after everything was over.

Although Claire Bennett felt he was trusting Julian Sterling a little too blindly, she didn't dwell on it. Right now, all her thoughts were focused on finding evidence.
