Chapter 145
Julian Is Damn Lucky to Marry You
Claire Bennett glanced at the white dress shirt he was wearing.
Julian Sterling had a great figure. Even an ordinary white dress shirt looked like something off a male model on him, with broad, sharp shoulders that gave him an unmistakably masculine appeal.
At that moment, Claire couldn't help thinking that if he changed into an expensive suit, it would probably make him look even better, full of that rich-man aura.
Just like on Naomi Pierce's engagement day, when he'd looked so dazzling that for a moment she'd almost thought he really was that President Sterling with his extraordinary status and position.
It was only then that Claire realized Julian only had two or three sets of clothes.
She quietly made up her mind that when she got her first paycheck from Sterling International, she would definitely buy Julian a new outfit.
Since he didn't have many clothes, the one he was wearing now couldn't get dirty.
Of course, she couldn't very well ask him to help shirtless either. If that happened, she'd probably be too busy getting a nosebleed to have any mind left for cooking.
When she spotted the extra apron nearby, an idea struck her and she picked it up, saying, "Put on the apron so your clothes don't get dirty later."
Julian said, "Help me put it on?"
Hearing that request, Claire froze for a moment, but she didn't refuse.
She walked up to him and rose onto her tiptoes to loop the apron over his neck. As she moved close to Julian, Claire even seemed to feel his hand rest lightly on her waist.
His warm body heat seeped through the thin fabric and pressed against her skin like an iron.
Even though they already slept together every night and were close enough as it was, being this near to him now still made her blush, made her heart race, made her whole body grow hot.
Claire had Julian help with prep while she busied herself cooking.
Before long, she had made a table full of dishes, each one looking no worse than anything from a restaurant and enough to make anyone's mouth water.
The moment Ruby Sterling sat down, she started drooling.
She praised her without holding back: "Claire, you're seriously amazing! You're definitely going to be such a good wife and mother. Julian Sterling is damn lucky to marry you!"
Of course, that also included her own help!
Ruby felt that her original decision to turn Claire into her sister-in-law had been absolutely the right one.
The only pity was that Claire still hadn't fallen for her brother yet, but she believed it wouldn't be long before they fell for each other, and she would do everything she could to help.
Ruby cleared her throat lightly and said with a sly smile, "While you two were cooking just now, I went out and bought some wine. Later we're going to drink and have a good time and celebrate properly!"
She had already been secretly plotting just now.
She was going to use this chance to get the two of them drunk.
People speak the truth after drinking, and after drinking they do that messy sex... ahem...
She was already imagining the glorious scene where, after today, a little nephew would suddenly pop into existence. It was almost too wonderful.
A smile curled at Ruby's lips, and she looked just like a little fox.
Cameron Quinn had been watching Ruby the whole time, and seeing her smile like that now, he knew this woman full of sneaky ideas was about to do something bad.
He glanced at Julian and Claire, and instantly understood what was going on.
Claire's brows drew together slightly as she said with some hesitation, "But I have to go to work tomorrow. Drinking wouldn't be very convenient, would it? How about I just have juice instead."
"Oh, come on, Claire, don't be such a buzzkill. You won the lawsuit against Ethan Sterling. If you don't celebrate something this big, then when are you going to celebrate? Besides, just a little won't matter. If you get drunk, you can just go straight into the bedroom and sleep."
Claire thought about it and felt Ruby was right, so she didn't object again.
"All right, then."
"That's more like it! Hurry up and let's eat. I'm starving."
Ruby pulled Claire down into a seat and eagerly served her rice and set out her bowl and utensils.
