Chapter 151
Abandoned by Claire Bennett
Claire Bennett went downstairs and stood by the roadside waiting for Julian Sterling.
Before long, an ordinary private car pulled up in front of the Sterling International building. Claire Bennett opened the door and got in, and the moment she shut it, the car drove off impatiently.
Claire Bennett was a little surprised.
Before she could ask, Julian Sterling's voice sounded beside her. He said, "Ethan Sterling followed us. He was probably tailing you."
At those words, the corner of Claire Bennett's eye twitched.
She glanced at the rearview mirror and sure enough saw Ethan Sterling standing in the corner by the Sterling International building with a dark expression.
She hadn't expected Ethan Sterling to really be this impossible to shake off. What was he trying to do by following her?
Although Claire Bennett felt that Ethan Sterling was acting strangely, she didn't take it to heart. What she should be thinking about was... what to eat tonight?
At that moment, Ethan Sterling stood downstairs outside the Sterling International building with an ugly, gloomy look on his face. Just one step more, and he would have seen who the man was that had picked Claire Bennett up!
But judging from that car, it probably wasn't Cameron Quinn's car.
After all, Cameron Quinn was the eldest young master of the Quinn family. A car worth a little over a hundred thousand wasn't something a person of his status would drive. Could there be another man?
Ethan Sterling sank into confusion.
Just as Claire Bennett and Julian Sterling got back to Parkview Heights, she received a call from Sean Shaw. She took out her phone and swiped to answer.
"Sean."
Hearing the way Claire Bennett addressed him, Julian Sterling, who was opening the door, paused for a moment. His eyes narrowed slightly, and his whole body filled with wariness.
"Claire, I'm in Chicago. Hurry up and come pick me up!"
Claire Bennett sighed helplessly. The last few days, Sean Shaw had been hit with one bout of bad luck after another and couldn't leave New York. Now that things had finally been successfully resolved, he could run around wherever he wanted again.
She looked at Julian Sterling and said apologetically, "Julian Sterling, I might have to go out for a bit. Why don't you eat out tonight?"
"To see Sean Shaw?"
"Yeah, Sean's in Chicago. I have to go pick him up."
Claire Bennett glanced at the time. "I won't keep talking to you. If I make him wait too long, he'll definitely start complaining about me, so I'm heading out first."
After saying that, Claire Bennett turned and left.
Julian Sterling watched her eager retreating figure, his eyes darkening. He didn't go into the apartment. He went straight to get his car keys and drove away.
An hour later, Julian Sterling returned to the Sterling family home.
At that moment, Ruby Sterling was eating dinner. When she saw someone who shouldn't have been there, she widened her eyes in shock. "Bro? Why are you back?"
Julian Sterling glanced at the dinner on the table. "Is there anything left to eat?"
Seeing this, Ruby Sterling's gossip-loving soul instantly possessed her. She hurriedly pulled Julian Sterling over to sit down and said, "Oh, don't be in such a hurry. I'll have Aunt Rong make something. First tell me, you came back by yourself—did you and Claire have a fight?"
"No."
Ruby Sterling didn't believe him at all. Julian Sterling's face was practically plastered with Keep Out. How did that look like they hadn't fought? He was obviously in a bad mood.
Seeing that Ruby Sterling was dying to know, Julian Sterling said, "Sean Shaw is here."
Ruby Sterling's eyes shifted, and she quickly figured out what was going on.
She guessed, "So... Sean Shaw showed up, and then Claire ditched you to go see him, and the two of them are having a candlelight dinner together, while you came running back to the Sterling house all alone and miserable?"
After she said that, Julian Sterling's icy gaze swept over.
Ruby Sterling was so scared that she immediately shut up.
"Heh heh heh... I said the wrong thing..." She grinned and changed the subject. "Claire went to see that man. Aren't you worried at all that he might go back on his word? Planning to pull a double-cross?"
Hearing Ruby Sterling's words, Julian Sterling's brows knitted tightly.
