Chapter 156

Men Understand Men Best

"Why?" Claire Bennett asked, puzzled.

Sean Shaw asked, "You didn't just straight-up tell him you were getting him a gift, did you?"

"Uh... not exactly." Claire Bennett sounded a little uncertain as she said, "But I had him go try on clothes. He probably knows I'm buying them for him, right?"

Sean Shaw said irritably, "Claire Bennett, is your brain sitting on top of your neck just for decoration? You don't even know how to pursue a man!"

That made Claire Bennett a little unhappy.

What did he mean by that? Was he calling her stupid?

This was her first time pursuing a man, okay? There was no way she could possibly have any experience!

Claire Bennett snorted coldly. "Forget it. Anyway, I don't have a brain, so I won't offend your precious eyes any longer. I'm hanging up."

"Wait!" Sean Shaw's tone softened a little as he said, "Sigh... I'm just anxious for you. Of course you can't give a gift directly."

"You can't give a gift directly? What do you mean?"

Sean Shaw began his tireless instruction. Brimming with confidence, he said, "You've already let him know ahead of time, so how is that still called a surprise? A so-called surprise is when the other person doesn't know about it in advance. That's how it leaves a deep impression. Only then is the surprise unexpected enough! Unforgettable!"

Listening to Sean Shaw pass on his experience, Claire Bennett looked a little blank. It seemed like she really hadn't thought that much about it just now.

"Are you sure?"

"Of course I'm sure!" Sean Shaw said confidently. "I'm a man. Men understand men best. That's exactly how Xia Shiyi surprised me last time, and it was unforgettable as hell!"

When Claire Bennett heard that Sean Shaw's fiancée, Xia Shiyi, had done the same thing, she stopped hesitating altogether.

Sean Shaw chatted casually with Claire Bennett for another couple of lines, then tactfully ended the call.

Julian Sterling still hadn't come out of the fitting room. Claire Bennett thought about what Sean Shaw had just said. She had revealed her surprise ahead of time, and Julian Sterling already knew. There probably wasn't any way to fix it now, right?

Suddenly, Claire Bennett's eyes lit up. Maybe it wasn't impossible after all—she had thought of a way!

A little while later, Julian Sterling came out of the fitting room.

Hearing the movement, Claire Bennett looked up, and in the next moment, a tall, straight figure entered her line of sight.

She had picked the simplest white dress shirt and black slacks. They looked pretty similar to what Julian Sterling usually wore, not too different, just with some differences in material and cut.

She hadn't expected that once Julian Sterling put them on, his entire presence would change on the spot, giving off an air of being completely out of reach.

The buttons at his collar weren't fully done up, adding a touch more casualness.

Claire Bennett had seen plenty in her life and wasn't the type to be easily drawn in by just any man, but the Julian Sterling in front of her made it impossible for her to look away.

He was way, way, way too handsome!

When Julian Sterling saw Claire Bennett staring at him in a daze, he felt a little pleased. In a slightly lifted tone, he asked, "Well?"

Claire Bennett nodded repeatedly. "It looks really good!"

After admiring him, she finally remembered the important matter.

Claire Bennett composed herself and walked over to touch the clothes on Julian Sterling's body. Pretending to hesitate, she frowned and said, "But wouldn't this size be a little too big? If I remember right, Sean doesn't seem to be this tall."

Warmth had originally been gathered in Julian Sterling's eyes, but after hearing Claire Bennett's words, his expression instantly darkened.

Claire Bennett wasn't buying clothes for him, but for Sean Shaw?

She had actually made him try on clothes for Sean Shaw!

At once, Julian Sterling's face turned as black as the bottom of a pot, and he felt like his liver hurt a little.

This was the idea Claire Bennett had just come up with—to pretend she wasn't buying anything for Julian Sterling, then secretly give it to him later. That would be surprising and unexpected enough too, right?
