Chapter 159
I'll Give You One More Month
After Claire Bennett received the message, the corners of her lips curled up.
She wasn't blind, of course she could sense Julian Sterling's disappointment today.
For the surprise to be unexpected enough, she could only pretend not to notice. Presumably when Julian Sterling found out the clothes were for him, he'd be very happy.
She really had gone to a lot of trouble to prepare a surprise for Julian Sterling!
Claire Bennett had already started imagining the expression on Julian Sterling's face after he received the gift tomorrow. Would he be happy, or surprised, or wear some other expression...
Julian Sterling was sitting right next to Claire Bennett. Although he was driving, he had a clear view of every move she made.
She was holding her phone and texting someone else, smiling like spring was in full bloom across her face.
Was it Sean Shaw on the other end?
He held it in, but in the end he still couldn't help asking, "Chatting with Sean Shaw?"
"Yeah, how did you know?" Claire Bennett looked at Julian Sterling suspiciously, a little doubtful that he had been peeking at her messages just now.
Then wouldn't her plan be exposed?
If Julian Sterling had seen it, all her effort would have been for nothing!
Claire Bennett asked worriedly, "Y-you... you saw what we were saying?"
"...No." Julian Sterling said expressionlessly.
In an instant, Claire Bennett let out a sigh of relief.
Good thing he hadn't seen it!
Presumably Julian Sterling wasn't the kind of man who snooped on other people's privacy either.
Still, it was better to be careful. Thinking that, she immediately hugged her phone a little tighter and quietly put some safe distance between herself and Julian Sterling.
Claire Bennett's guilty-looking move only made Julian Sterling feel that something was very off. If she didn't have a guilty conscience, why was she afraid of him seeing it?
After they got back to Parkview Heights, Julian Sterling went straight into the study.
Claire Bennett watched the study door close and felt like he seemed to be carrying a bit of anger. Presumably it was still because of the clothes, right?
Although she couldn't help wanting to tell him, she still forcibly held herself back.
Inside the study.
Julian Sterling yanked off the tie at his collar and sat down on the sofa.
His chest was full of anger, but he couldn't vent it at Claire Bennett. He was almost suffocating from holding it in. Luckily they had already moved, and there was a study where he could hide for a while.
His phone rang, and a name that gave him a headache flashed on the screen.
It was a call from his grandfather.
Julian Sterling lowered his eyes and answered calmly, "Grandpa."
The old man's stern voice came through the phone. "Julian, has the matter you mentioned last time been resolved? Have you dealt with that woman already?"
He had already been in a bad mood tonight, and after hearing Old Master Sterling's words, Julian Sterling's mood got even worse.
It wasn't that he wanted to deal with Claire Bennett, but that he was thinking about how to make Claire Bennett stay.
After not hearing any response from Julian Sterling for a long while, Old Master Sterling grew angry.
He barked sharply, "Julian, you're not someone who has so little sense of proportion. Is that woman hard to deal with? Have you developed feelings for her?"
"Hmph! Since you can't solve it, I'll solve it for you!"
Julian Sterling's eyes darkened.
He knew the old man was ruthless. Back in the business world, the old man had recognized no ties of kinship. It was precisely through his cold-blooded, merciless, and ruthless way of doing things that he had pushed Sterling Group to its current position.
He absolutely could not let him make a move.
Julian Sterling said calmly, "Grandpa, I know what I'm doing. You don't need to worry."
Hearing that, the old man's anger subsided quite a bit.
This grandson had always spared him worry, and he also didn't believe he would lose his head and do something that displeased him.
"I'll give you one more month. If after one month you still haven't resolved it, then don't blame me for being merciless."
