Ch. 168 - Who Sent Her the Flowers

Chapter 168

Who Sent Her the Flowers

Claire Bennett didn't take what Ethan Sterling had just said to heart. She went back to her seat, sat down, and continued with her day's work.

At that moment, a voice suddenly rang out from the doorway. "Director Bennett, you have a same-city delivery."

Quite a few people were drawn over. Standing in the doorway was a courier, holding a huge bouquet of roses in his arms. The blazing red roses covered half his body.

A knowing, suggestive look appeared in everyone's eyes.

No one expected someone to send flowers to Claire Bennett. It really was enough to make people jealous!

Claire Bennett sat in her seat, her brows tightly furrowing.

Who had sent her the flowers?

What Ethan Sterling had said just now surfaced in her mind again. She immediately decided the flowers were from Ethan Sterling. Far from feeling even a trace of joy, she only found his showy behavior infuriating.

Ethan Sterling kept saying he wanted to apologize, but in reality, this kind of behavior was just pushing her into the center of gossip and making her the subject of discussion among the people at Maison Verne.

Who knew what Naomi Pierce might do after finding out.

Was Ethan Sterling sick in the head?

At that moment, quiet whispering came from nearby.

"Who do you think sent the flowers to Claire Bennett?"

"No idea. It's definitely her boyfriend or one of her suitors."

"Come to think of it, you need a key card to get up here at Sterling International. For someone to deliver flowers all the way here, someone must have let him through."

After hearing that, strange looks appeared in everyone's eyes. There really weren't many people at Sterling International who had that kind of pull.

On top of that, Claire Bennett had been parachuted in by Sterling International's upper management, so it was hard not to let their imaginations run wild.

A look of disdain appeared on Willow Lane's face. Claire Bennett was such a flirt, stringing along so many men at once. Wasn't she afraid those men would run into each other and everything would blow up? Willow Lane wanted to see how Claire Bennett would deal with it when that happened!

Amid the discussion, the courier said, "Miss Claire Bennett, please sign for your flowers."

Claire Bennett's face darkened, and she said coldly, "Sorry, take the flowers away. I refuse delivery!"

If the flowers were from Ethan Sterling, then there was even less chance she would accept them.

"But..." the courier hesitated.

Claire Bennett said, "Has no one ever refused a delivery at your company?"

The courier said nothing more and left holding the flowers.

When everyone saw Claire Bennett refuse them, they all got excited and gathered together to keep discussing it. But what they talked about most was why she had refused the flowers.

Some said Claire Bennett was afraid of being talked about.

Some said the person who sent the flowers wasn't someone Claire Bennett liked.

Inside the office, Naomi Pierce had also heard the news that someone had sent flowers to Claire Bennett, and she nearly ground her teeth to pieces.

"Manager Pierce, just now they were all saying security is really tight here at Sterling International, and only with special authorization could flowers be delivered up here. Do you think the person who sent flowers to Claire Bennett this time could be..."

At that point, Yoyo paused and quietly lifted her eyes to glance at Naomi Pierce.

"Could be what!" Naomi Pierce looked at Yoyo coldly.

Yoyo said cautiously, "C-could it have been Manager Sterling who sent them?"

At those words, Naomi Pierce's expression turned savage, and she threw what was in her hand onto the floor.

Yoyo, standing nearby, went rigid with fright and didn't dare say another word.

But seeing how angry Naomi Pierce was, she knew Claire Bennett was in for it.

She actually felt a little thrilled with anticipation.

Served Claire Bennett right for using Ethan Sterling's influence to punish her earlier. This was her own fault, and she had it coming.

At the same time, outside the Sterling International president's office, Marcus Reed steadied his emotions and made ample mental preparations before carefully knocking on the door.

"Come in." Marcus Reed pushed the door open and entered the office.

Julian Sterling was sitting in his chair working. Thinking about what he was about to report, Marcus Reed's heart pounded nervously.

But he still didn't dare hide it and reported truthfully, "Mr. Sterling, the flowers you sent... were refused by Miss Bennett."

As soon as he finished speaking, Julian Sterling's expression turned cold. It was like the piercing wind of winter rushing straight at him, making people unable to help but shiver.

The pressure on Marcus Reed was immense, and he almost didn't dare raise his head to look at Julian Sterling.

A moment later, he finally heard Julian Sterling's voice. "Got it."

"Mr. Sterling, then I'll go out first." After Marcus Reed turned to leave, he seemed to think of something. He stopped and asked, "What should be done with the flowers?"

"Throw them away." Julian Sterling's expression was icy.

Marcus Reed didn't dare stay any longer and immediately turned and went out.

Wes Mercer was at his desk. Seeing Marcus Reed looking dejected, he asked, "What, got chewed out again?"

Marcus Reed walked over to Wes Mercer and said mournfully, "Mr. Sterling sent flowers to Miss Bennett, but Miss Bennett refused to accept them. I figure Mr. Sterling's mood probably won't be too good for the next couple of days."

After saying that, Marcus Reed seemed to think of something. Looking at Wes Mercer, he said, "That courier dumped the flowers and ran off just now. Mr. Sterling told me to get rid of them, but I have to prepare for a meeting right away. How about you take care of the flowers for me? I'll treat you to a meal another day."
