Ch. 17 - My Kidneys Are Fine, I Don't Need Supplements

Chapter 17

My Kidneys Are Fine, I Don't Need Supplements

Julian Sterling stepped forward and snatched the thing out of her hand. He frowned and said, "What are you doing!"

Claire Bennett looked up at him, somewhat puzzled.

She'd just seen this thing was on sale and picked it up to take a look. Why was he acting like she'd done something earth-shattering?

"What's wrong? You don't like eating this?"

It suddenly occurred to Claire Bennett that some people just couldn't stand the gamy smell of lamb. Was Julian Sterling so worked up because he didn't eat it?

Living with a stranger again really did mean needing to understand all of the other person's likes and dislikes. She had been too careless and hadn't asked whether he liked it or not.

Claire Bennett apologized sincerely. "Sorry, I didn't know you don't eat this."

Julian Sterling let out a cold laugh, his lips curling as his eyes fixed on her with ridicule.

After getting caught by him, this woman started backing down and apologizing. She really did know when to advance and when to retreat!

The favorable impression Claire Bennett had given him really could only last for one second.

After failing to get a result from Ethan Sterling, she still hadn't given up and was buying lamb kidneys for him, planning to use one organ to nourish the same organ so he'd feel desire for her?

Julian Sterling let out a low, cold laugh and said, "My kidneys are fine. I don't need lamb kidneys to supplement them. And in the future, don't go having these messy thoughts anymore."

Claire Bennett froze for a moment, then slowly processed what he meant.

Her eyes fell on the box he had just put back. Before, she'd only noticed the sale sticker and vaguely knew it was some kind of organ meat, but hadn't paid attention to what exactly it was. Only now did she see clearly that it was lamb kidneys.

He thought she was buying them to supplement his kidneys?

Claire Bennett's cheeks gradually flushed with embarrassment. She wanted to explain, but Julian Sterling had already pushed the cart away and left.

Sigh, she had to take the blame for this one again.

Next, they bought quite a few things. After returning to the apartment, Claire Bennett briskly sorted the vegetables and meat and put them into the refrigerator.

The apartment wasn't large and didn't have a separate study, so if Claire Bennett wanted to work, she could only occupy a corner of the living room.

She took out everything she needed and began designing the layout for Sterling International's exterior wall.

The requirements Tanya Sterling had put forward were extremely detailed. Claire Bennett had to focus and pull herself together if she wanted any chance of successfully completing this order.

She spread a blanket on the floor, tossed pencils and the other things she needed onto it, then sat down casually and began sketching drafts.

Julian Sterling sat on the sofa, his gaze resting on Claire Bennett.

She had her head lowered, writing and drawing on the sketch paper. The way her slender, fair hand held the pencil looked exceptionally graceful. The evening sunset streamed in from the window, as though covering her with a faint layer of light.

Julian Sterling suddenly felt that the scene before him looked like a painting.

Claire Bennett really was a strange woman. Just when she always made him feel that she was deeply calculating, she would overturn his understanding of her all over again.

Julian Sterling suddenly became interested in what Claire Bennett was drawing.

He stood up from the sofa and walked toward Claire Bennett.

When Claire Bennett was fully absorbed in her work, her whole posture was one of concentration. She was completely unaffected by her surroundings, and naturally had no idea that Julian Sterling was standing behind her.

When Claire Bennett reached a stopping point in her work, she braced herself on one arm and stretched lazily, only for the back of her hand to hit something soft yet firm.

Startled, she quickly turned around, only to discover that Julian Sterling had somehow come to stand behind her at some point.

She hadn't just punched some part of him, had she?

Claire Bennett panicked. She immediately stood up and apologized repeatedly. "Um... I did that by accident. You're okay, right?"
