Ch. 184 - The First Fight

Chapter 184

The First Fight

Even though she had already apologized, Julian Sterling's expression was still ugly.

Claire Bennett didn't understand why Julian Sterling had suddenly gotten angry. If he cared that she had brought Sean Shaw back on her own, she'd already apologized, so what more did he want?

Even though she liked Julian Sterling, she wasn't some love-struck idiot who could unconditionally put up with his inexplicable temper.

Suppressing her anger, Claire Bennett said, "I already apologized to you just now. If you won't accept my apology, there's nothing I can do about it. If you want to stay mad, then stay mad."

Julian Sterling's thin lips were pressed into a straight line, and the pressure around him was freezing.

If Claire Bennett had gone along with him and properly soothed him, maybe he would have calmed down, but her look of apologizing only because she had to had truly hit his trigger point.

And yet he still couldn't take it out on Claire Bennett.

How could he have thought that just because Claire Bennett accepted his gift, he had surpassed Sean Shaw in her heart?

It was ridiculous!

Claire Bennett felt that Julian Sterling seemed a little strange right now. The way he looked at her was as if she had done something to betray him, and in those deep eyes flowed a trace of loneliness so painful it tugged at her heart.

Looking at that expression, her heart softened instinctively.

Just as she was about to continue apologizing, Julian Sterling suddenly turned around and strode toward the door.

It wasn't until the sound of the door closing rang out that Claire Bennett realized Julian Sterling had actually left in anger. His furious expression from a moment ago still seemed to be right in front of her eyes.

She immediately chased after him to the doorway, but the man was already nowhere in sight outside.

Claire Bennett went to the elevator and saw it slowly descending, finally stopping at the underground parking garage.

Julian Sterling had left?

She stood there somewhat blankly. This was the first time she and Julian Sterling had argued over such a small matter. The more she thought about it, the more wronged she felt. Claire Bennett's eyes gradually reddened, and her heart ached with sour misery.

She took out her phone and called Julian Sterling, but it showed that the other party was busy and remained unanswered the whole time.

She sent Julian Sterling messages too, but they vanished like stones dropped into the sea.

...

Julian Sterling drove away from Parkview Heights. He didn't have a destination; he just kept driving straight along the road.

He didn't want his anger to hurt Claire Bennett, so he chose to leave for the time being.

If Sean Shaw hadn't appeared, he would still have had the patience to slowly pursue Claire Bennett and wait for her to change her mind, but Sean Shaw's appearance had thrown all his plans into chaos.

It had also nearly made him lose control of his anger.

While he was driving, the phone in his pocket rang.

Julian Sterling took it out and glanced at it. It was Cameron Quinn calling.

After he answered, Cameron Quinn's voice came through the car's Bluetooth. "Julian, we caught the person behind the anonymous messages. You'd never guess who it was."

Julian Sterling was in a gloomy, irritable mood and had no patience to play guessing games with Cameron Quinn. In a cold, heavy voice, he spat out two words: "Who is it?"

Even if someone had been pulling strings behind the scenes, the fact remained that Claire Bennett had brought Sean Shaw back to their home.

Cameron Quinn's teasing voice came through the phone. He said, "Your wonderful nephew Ethan Sterling. Is he so full of himself he's got nothing better to do? But how did he end up finding someone to send me information? Don't tell me he misunderstood something."

Julian Sterling's brows furrowed tightly.

Ethan Sterling's purpose in doing this wasn't hard to guess. Perhaps he still couldn't let go of Claire Bennett, and by pulling this kind of stunt, if he made them fight, he'd be able to get back together with Claire Bennett.

Thinking of this, he couldn't help but curse under his breath.

One Sean Shaw, the white moonlight, wasn't enough, and now there was also Ethan Sterling, the ex-boyfriend.

At the same time, Naomi Pierce and Ethan Sterling also got a call from the private investigator.

The private investigator told Ethan Sterling that they had seen Sean Shaw leave Parkview Heights and that he had not stayed the night. As for the Cameron Quinn they had been expecting, he had never shown up at all.

Ethan Sterling gritted his teeth. "What did you say? Young Master Quinn didn't go catch them in the act?"

After hanging up, Ethan Sterling's face turned dark and ugly.

He didn't know where exactly things had gone wrong.

If Claire Bennett really was Cameron Quinn's woman, then after seeing those photos, there was no way Cameron Quinn would have remained unmoved. He definitely wouldn't have let it go.

What man could tolerate his woman putting horns on him?

Could it be that he had investigated wrong?

At this moment, Ethan Sterling began to suspect that everything he had previously found out was a misunderstanding, and that Claire Bennett had not latched onto Cameron Quinn. If that was the case, then he could relax a little.

Then there was still Sean Shaw.

The Shaw family was doing pretty well in New York too, but if he remembered correctly, the Shaw family and the Hart family were supposed to form a marriage alliance. Maybe Sean Shaw was just fooling around with Claire Bennett, and sooner or later she would be dumped.

Claire Bennett was nothing to fear either!

Ethan Sterling steadied himself a little and said in a low voice, "Maybe Claire Bennett has nothing to do with Cameron Quinn. We don't need to worry too much about her."

After saying that, he looked at Naomi Pierce and said gently, "Naomi, since Claire Bennett isn't a threat to us, let's stop worrying about her. Right now, we should be focusing more on the new product launch and doing our work well. Then when Father-in-law comes over, we can leave him with a good impression."

This was a great opportunity for him to show Victor Bennett what he was capable of.

He hadn't expected that in the end he would still have to rely on the Bennett family, but there was nothing he could do about it.

"Mm." Naomi Pierce responded absentmindedly.
