Chapter 199

Go Back and Move the Things

Claire Bennett thought to herself that maybe he probably wouldn't be coming back again.

She walked toward the room in the apartment. The packed suitcase was sitting in the corner of the room, and she could leave just by picking it up.

The moment she opened the door, Claire Bennett fell into a warm embrace. She let out a startled cry and immediately began to struggle.

The person forced her backward, then pinned her tightly onto the bed behind her, not allowing her to escape even a little.

It was a familiar scent, carrying a faint smell of alcohol.

Claire Bennett's brows knit slightly. "Julian Sterling?"

The man pinning her down didn't answer, but Claire Bennett was certain it was Julian Sterling. She was far too familiar with his scent and everything about him.

Once she knew it was him, Claire Bennett's tense body relaxed, and she stopped struggling.

He had really scared her to death just now. She'd thought a burglar had broken into the house.

Julian Sterling hadn't come back for such a long time, and she hadn't expected him to return tonight. But something about his state seemed off.

Had he been drinking?

Julian Sterling stared at Claire Bennett with a deep gaze.

There hadn't been time to turn on the light in the room, but his eyes had already adjusted to the darkness, and her delicate, beautiful outline was clearly visible in it.

Her eyes were bright and beautiful; when they looked at him, they stirred his heart for no reason at all. And then there were her flower-like lips.

Without even thinking, he lowered his head and kissed Claire Bennett directly.

Dry kindling meeting blazing fire ignites at the first spark.

Claire Bennett quickly sank into his passionate and lingering kiss. Her mind became a complete blur, and she could no longer tell east from west.

The position the two of them were in now was extremely ambiguous, and also very dangerous.

Julian Sterling was no longer as cold and abstinent as usual. His dark eyes locked onto Claire Bennett as though he had set his sights on prey, making her feel as if he were about to devour her whole.

With a moment of clarity in her mind, Claire Bennett called out softly, "Ju... Julian Sterling, wait..."

But the man pressing her down paid no attention to her at all and continued doing as he pleased.

Claire Bennett's long lashes trembled lightly. She could feel Julian Sterling's kisses moving lower and lower, falling on her neck... collarbone... chest, making her shiver uncontrollably.

The hand that had been braced against the man's chest gradually fell away.

In the past, she had strongly resisted men's advances. She had dated Ethan Sterling for so long, yet when Ethan Sterling brought up sleeping together countless times, she had refused every time.

It was because of the psychological shadow left by something she had seen when she was little.

But at some point, she and Julian Sterling had grown closer and closer, and now she suddenly realized that she didn't seem to resist his closeness at all. Deep down, she even wanted it.

Julian Sterling had been drinking. She didn't know whether his mind was clear right now.

If this was what he wanted, then she was willing to give it to him.

Just as Claire Bennett decided to go all in and give herself to Julian Sterling, the man on top of her suddenly stopped moving.

He buried his head in the crook of her neck, breathing heavily as though trying to calm the desire in his body.

A moment later, Julian Sterling said hoarsely, "Sorry."

After saying that, he pushed himself up. Claire Bennett instantly regained her freedom, but she was still a little unable to process what had just happened.

Click. The room light turned on.

Everything in the room became clear. Claire Bennett's glowing pale skin gleamed faintly under the light, and she quickly grabbed the blanket beside her and wrapped herself in it.

Julian Sterling leaned lazily against the wall. His hair hung down over his eyes, and his clothes were also wrinkled and disheveled. He didn't look much better off than Claire Bennett.

He had almost lost control just now.

For the past few days, Julian Sterling had been forcing himself not to look for Claire Bennett. He had told the old master of the Sterling family that the divorce agreement had been drafted, but he hadn't had Marcus Reed go handle the divorce certificate.

With his ability, he could have gotten the paperwork done without Claire Bennett needing to show up, but instead he chose to find Claire Bennett and handle the divorce certificate together with her.

That way, he could see her one more time too.

Unexpectedly, when he came back to the apartment, he didn't see Claire Bennett there. Marcus Reed found out that she was out having dinner with Sean Shaw, and at that moment his mood became terrible. He drank quite a bit here.

At last, he waited until Claire Bennett came back.

When he held her in his arms, he couldn't hold back from wanting to get even closer to her.

"Why didn't you keep struggling?" Julian Sterling asked.

Just now, Claire Bennett hadn't continued struggling and had obediently gone along with him. Julian Sterling suspected that if he had really continued, then maybe he and she would have...

In that instant, it occurred to him that Claire Bennett had dated Ethan Sterling for so long without ever getting to that step, yet she hadn't resisted being with him.

Could it be that she was going to use her body to pay off the debt and repay the breach-of-contract penalty in that contract?

He sobered up on the spot. If he really liked her, he wouldn't bully her under those circumstances.
