He Really Isn't a Man
Claire Bennett turned and went to the bathroom to wash up. After she finished everything, she started busying herself making breakfast.
At that moment, Julian Sterling came out after changing into a different suit.
The suit he was wearing was just some ordinary no-name brand, but his whole person gave off a reserved, cool elegance. The crisp jacket perfectly outlined his striking shoulder line, and the dress pants were straight and sharp. Everything about him radiated an untouchable air.
Claire Bennett stared in a daze. She felt that if Julian Sterling wore this outfit to the engagement banquet, he would absolutely fool everyone.
Probably the real Julian Sterling was only this much, too.
After Julian Sterling finished breakfast, he went to work without saying another word to Claire Bennett.
But before leaving, he still took the lunchbox Claire Bennett handed him with a cold face.
Claire Bennett thought he was acting strangely today, but she still couldn't figure out what exactly was wrong. Maybe Julian Sterling was cranky after waking up.
Just as she was spacing out, her phone rang.
It was Ruby Sterling calling.
"Claire, the engagement invitations for Ethan Sterling and Naomi Pierce have already been sent out. Did that woman come show off in front of you yet?"
"No, but I think it'll be very soon."
Naomi Pierce would never miss a single chance to show off in front of her.
"That woman is seriously disgusting!" Ruby Sterling let out an indignant snort and said, "What can relieve sorrow? Only stuffing yourself with a huge meal. Don't be mad anymore. Come out and I'll treat you to a big feast."
Claire Bennett couldn't help laughing.
Ruby Sterling was a total foodie. She loved all kinds of good food, and that line was her famous saying.
Actually, Claire Bennett felt that Ruby Sterling was far more worked up than she was. After the initial shock and sadness of being betrayed, she had already calmed down by now.
Especially after seeing Ethan Sterling clearly for the kind of person he was, she no longer had any good feelings toward him at all.
She smiled and replied, "Sure, where should we meet?"
By the time Claire Bennett got to the restaurant, Ruby Sterling was already waiting for her.
When she saw Claire Bennett, Ruby Sterling's eyes darted craftily over her body, as if checking for something. Claire Bennett couldn't help asking, "What are you looking at?"
Ruby Sterling looked full of gossip. Lowering her voice, she waggled her brows and asked, "Claire, you've already been living together for two days. Have you... ahem... you know..."
Claire Bennett looked as if she'd heard something utterly absurd, and she laughed. "Isn't your imagination a little too wild? We're not like what you're imagining."
"What?" Ruby Sterling was utterly shocked.
Logically speaking, with an unmarried man and woman alone under one roof, it was almost impossible for nothing to happen. Her brother might be a little repressed, but he couldn't possibly be incapable, could he?
"You two really didn't sleep together?" Ruby Sterling asked bluntly.
"No."
The corners of Ruby Sterling's mouth twitched. She ground her teeth in fury and cursed, "Holy crap! He really isn't a man!"
Faced with such a stunning beauty, he could still act like a saint.
Sometimes when she saw Claire Bennett, even she couldn't help wanting to pounce on her, let alone a man.
So her brother really wasn't a man!
All of a sudden, Ruby Sterling was hit with guilt and felt like she'd harmed her best friend. She grabbed Claire Bennett's hand and said guiltily, "Claire, I'm sorry. I had no idea he was actually impotent. I've made you a grass widow."
Claire Bennett was surprised. So Ruby Sterling had known all along that Julian Sterling was...
But she and Julian Sterling were only temporarily married to begin with, so she didn't think it mattered at all. If anything, she felt this made things much easier and more comfortable.
"It's okay, don't blame yourself," Claire Bennett comforted her.
Ruby Sterling seemed to think of something, and suddenly her spirits lifted.
No! Since she'd already trapped Claire Bennett by pairing her up with her own brother, she had to take responsibility for her "sex" life all the way to the end!
