Chapter 201
This Marriage Might Not End in Divorce
The house was a small four-story detached home, much bigger than Parkview Heights, but Claire Bennett didn't feel even a trace of excitement about moving there with Julian Sterling. Instead, the place felt empty.
Realizing she was thinking about Julian Sterling again, Claire let out a faint sigh.
Someone once said that the best way to forget your last relationship was to start a new one. The only reason she'd been able to forget Ethan Sterling so quickly was entirely because of Julian Sterling.
So now, what was she supposed to use to forget Julian Sterling?
Full of worries, Claire Bennett lay in bed, tossing and turning for a long time before finally falling asleep.
The next day, she went to work at Sterling International.
She had just sat down at her desk when she heard the people around her discussing something with excited expressions...
"Hey, hey, hey, did you know? Queen, who's been gone for years, is back!"
"I saw it too. I can't believe the moment she showed up, one of her pieces sold for five million. My God, how long would I have to work to make that kind of money back? I'm so jealous."
"I saw the matching men's and women's rings Queen put up for sale. They look so gorgeous."
Claire Bennett hadn't expected Queen's influence to be so huge. She'd thought Queen was only a little famous online within the industry.
Now that she saw even these Maison Verne employees had completely fallen for it, she didn't know what to say for a moment and could only listen silently.
Just then, someone noticed Claire Bennett and asked, "Director Song, you know Queen too, right?"
Claire Bennett gave an awkward smile and forced herself to say, "I do."
"Queen burst onto the scene back then. Anyone in this line of work would know who she is. What kind of question is that..."
"Hahaha, true enough."
At that moment, someone beside them said, "There's gossip that she's from St. S Royal Academy too. Her work doesn't look like a student's, though. I suspect she's actually some professor using a fake name."
After they finished speaking, they looked at Claire Bennett. "Director Song, who do you think Queen is? You must have someone in mind, right?"
Claire Bennett rubbed her nose. "I don't know either. Back when I was at the academy, I rarely paid attention to things outside."
Everyone had thought they'd hear something interesting, but Claire Bennett turned out not to know anything, and all of them couldn't help feeling a little disappointed.
Everyone sighed and marveled a while longer, then returned to their own desks.
With the new product launch approaching, everyone was busy and had little time to slack off. Claire Bennett thought that was pretty good too; it meant she wouldn't have to think about Julian Sterling again.
Only during breaks, she couldn't help thinking of him.
At times like that, all she could do was press down all the bitterness in her heart and throw herself into work.
...
The Sterling residence.
The door opened, and Julian Sterling walked in from outside with steady steps.
"Bro, you're finally back!" Ruby Sterling walked toward Julian Sterling and complained, "I've been waiting so long I'm about to grow mushrooms! I thought you weren't coming back."
"There was an important meeting," Julian Sterling said in a low voice.
Lately, it wasn't just Claire Bennett who had thrown herself into work. Even Julian Sterling had been working like his life depended on it, as if he'd turned himself into a machine that never slept or rested. Sterling International's performance this month had skyrocketed to an unprecedented level.
The only ones suffering were the people below him, who had long since been crying bitterly.
Fortunately, there was finally a bit of a change today.
Father Sterling, Martin Sterling, and Mother Sterling, Yvonne Sterling, were returning from overseas travel today!
Julian Sterling and Ruby Sterling were going to the airport to pick them up.
No matter how busy work was, Julian Sterling still put aside what he was doing, returned to the Sterling residence, and took Ruby Sterling with him.
Ruby Sterling asked, "So can we go to the airport now?"
"Mm, let's go."
After saying that, Julian Sterling turned and walked out.
Watching Julian Sterling's departing back, Ruby Sterling let out a quiet sigh. Even though Julian Sterling looked no different from before, anyone close to him could tell that he wasn't the same as before.
She sighed to herself. Their parents had wanted her eldest brother to get married so badly!
She'd finally managed to get herself a sister-in-law, and now, on the eve of their parents' return, she was just gone like that.
If they found out, they would definitely feel sorry about it.
Two hours later, Julian Sterling and Ruby Sterling stood at the airport exit.
The exceptionally good-looking brother and sister drew quite a few glances. Quite a few women nearby had their eyes on Julian Sterling, whispering among themselves from time to time.
"Dad, Mom, why aren't they out yet?" Holding a bouquet of flowers in her arms, Ruby Sterling stood beside Julian Sterling, constantly craning her neck toward the exit. She was already getting impatient from waiting.
Before long, a middle-aged man and woman who still looked quite young came out pushing their suitcases. Among the moving crowd, they were especially eye-catching.
When Ruby Sterling saw them, she immediately waved. "Over here! We're over here!"
She ran toward Mother Sterling, while Julian Sterling calmly took the suitcase from Mother Sterling's hand.
After they went out, Ruby Sterling and Mother Sterling walked arm in arm intimately in front, while Julian Sterling and Father Sterling followed behind.
"Ruby, has your brother been very busy with work lately?" Mother Sterling held Ruby Sterling's hand and asked with some concern.
Julian Sterling was her own son. Mother Sterling could tell at a glance that he was in pretty bad shape. She thought Julian Sterling had become like this because of work, so she asked out of concern.
Ruby Sterling froze for a moment when she heard that, then awkwardly rubbed her nose.
How was it because of work? It was obviously because of the divorce with Claire Bennett. Her brother was heartbroken, wasn't he?
She answered vaguely, "Uh... probably not? I don't know either."
