Ch. 204 - She's Worried About Him

Chapter 204

She's Worried About Him

So, while Claire Bennett and Julian Sterling weren't paying attention, the three of them quietly slipped out from the side, and the doctor went out with them too.

In an instant, only Julian Sterling and Claire Bennett were left in the room.

Julian Sterling saw them leave. His eyes flickered slightly, but he didn't say anything to stop them. He withdrew his gaze, his deep eyes landing on Claire Bennett's anxious face. She was so worried she looked like she was about to cry.

She's worried about him.

At last, Julian Sterling had this clear realization in his heart.

The corners of his mouth lifted slightly as he said, "I'm fine. This blood isn't mine. I rescued someone who was injured."

"Really? Let me see." Claire Bennett still seemed a little unconvinced. Without caring whether Julian Sterling agreed or not, she stepped forward and started pulling at his clothes.

Julian Sterling didn't stop her either, instead letting Claire Bennett run her hands all over him. Very quickly, Claire Bennett undid the buttons of Julian Sterling's shirt. There were indeed no injuries under his clothes.

That shocking blood really wasn't his.

Claire Bennett let out a breath of relief, and the tense emotion in her eyes gradually faded.

At that point, she realized she was still clutching Julian Sterling's collar. With his clothes being pulled open by her, he looked a little disheveled, like she was about to force herself on him.

This was just too embarrassing.

"S-Sorry..." Claire Bennett's face showed embarrassment. She gave a light cough and said softly, "I just wanted to check whether there were any wounds."

The smile at the corner of Julian Sterling's mouth deepened a little as he said softly, "Claire, I'm fine. You don't need to worry."

The moment he said that, Claire Bennett felt the atmosphere become even stranger.

With the relationship they had now, it didn't seem appropriate for them to be meeting again, did it?

Claire Bennett had always thought that the next time she and Julian Sterling met again, it would be at the marriage registration office to handle the paperwork, and after walking out they would each go their separate ways.

She hadn't expected one phone call from Ruby Sterling to make her forget everything.

At this moment, Ruby Sterling had pulled Mother Sterling and Father Sterling over to the hospital's small garden. She was afraid Claire Bennett might hear, so she only felt at ease after going farther away.

Claire Bennett still didn't know that Julian Sterling was President Sterling.

Now that there was finally a slight sign of the relationship between the two of them easing up, she absolutely couldn't expose it and send everything back to square one.

Mother Sterling was already too impatient to wait and asked, "Ruby, what exactly is going on? Who was that girl just now? Don't tell me your brother got himself a girlfriend while we were away?"

Ruby Sterling looked proud and snorted, "Oh, what girlfriend? Claire and my brother already got their marriage license and are married. She's my real sister-in-law in every sense!"

As soon as she said that, Father Sterling and Mother Sterling were both stunned.

They had never imagined that Julian Sterling had quietly gone and registered a marriage with some girl without saying a word. All of a sudden they had a daughter-in-law. It really was an enormous surprise for them.

Now they no longer had to worry about Julian Sterling refusing to get married.

Ruby Sterling let out a faint sigh and said, "Sigh! But Claire and my brother are getting divorced. Soon this sister-in-law will be gone."

They had only been happy for less than two seconds before Ruby Sterling dropped a bombshell on them.

They hurriedly stepped forward and grabbed Ruby Sterling, pressing her with questions. "What exactly is going on? Why are they getting divorced? What happened?"

"Yeah, what exactly is going on?" Father Sterling was also very curious.

"Sigh! Here's what happened..."

So Ruby Sterling told Father Sterling and Mother Sterling how things had started between Claire Bennett and Julian Sterling, and how they had ended up at the point of divorce.

She knew her parents weren't like Grandpa, that old fossil. They weren't nearly so hung up on social status, so there was no need to worry that Claire Bennett wouldn't pass their test.

Unexpectedly, after listening to Ruby Sterling, Mother Sterling gave her a thumbs-up.

"Ruby, you did very well. Given Julian's personality, if you hadn't helped him find a wife, he probably would've stayed single for the rest of his life. It's just a pity that they're actually heading for divorce now."

Ruby Sterling looked miserable. She sighed and said, "I think it's heartbreaking too, so just now I called Claire to test her attitude toward my brother, and the result was very satisfying."

"That girl doesn't look like she has no feelings for your brother. Look how worried she was when she heard your brother was injured."

Ruby Sterling nodded in agreement and said, "Exactly, so I think they really shouldn't have come to the point of divorce."

Mother Sterling said, "We have to help Julian. Otherwise it'd be such a shame for our daughter-in-law to just disappear like this!"

At that moment, Ruby Sterling thought of something important and hurriedly said, "Mom! Don't go interfering blindly. Claire still doesn't know my brother's identity. What if we try to help and only make things worse?"

Maybe there had originally still been a chance to fix things, but if Claire Bennett got angry, the whole thing would be dead in the water.

Having finally gotten a daughter-in-law, Mother Sterling was terrified she'd run off. She quickly replied, "Okay, okay, okay, then we won't interfere. We'll let your brother work harder and win her back."

Father Sterling said, "She doesn't know Julian's identity and still has feelings for him. I'd say she's a girl of pretty good character."

"Of course she is. Claire is a really good person!" Ruby Sterling praised proudly. Right after that, she continued to remind and instruct them, "You all need to be careful. Don't let anything slip."

Father Sterling and Mother Sterling nodded in unison. "Don't worry. We'll definitely keep our mouths shut and help Julian win his wife back."

Suddenly, Mother Sterling thought of something and asked, "When we go back to the Sterling family later, won't that give us away?"

Father Sterling looked thoughtful, then said, "Don't worry. I have a way."

He took out his phone and made a call. "Hello, Old Lee? Could I ask you a favor?"
