Ch. 210 - The Money Wasn't Borrowed from Sean Shaw

Chapter 210

The Money Wasn't Borrowed from Sean Shaw

Claire Bennett said blankly, "Wh-... what do you mean?"

Julian Sterling said, "My parents aren't in good health. Our divorce would be a shock to them. Let's wait until they're prepared before we tell them."

"How... how long do we wait?" Claire Bennett asked hesitantly.

Julian Sterling was silent for a moment. Something seemed to cross his mind, and his expression softened a little. Then he said softly, "There are still six months left until the time we agreed on before. Let's wait another six months before we divorce, okay?"

He remembered what his mother had said. She was the one who had reminded him, so he decided to keep trying for another six months.

Claire Bennett lightly bit her lip and said nothing.

What she was actually thinking was that even if they waited another six months to tell Julian Sterling's parents, they would still find out eventually. Since the final result would be the same either way, why go through the extra trouble?

Now that she was seeing him again, she was already a little reluctant to let go. By then, she might be even more reluctant.

Wasn't he afraid that six months from now she'd cling to his leg and refuse to divorce him no matter what?

Unexpectedly, before her brain had even caught up, two words popped out of Claire Bennett's mouth: "Okay."

After she said it, she felt a little awkward.

Why had she acted like she couldn't wait? It was so embarrassing. Would he laugh at her?

When Julian Sterling heard her answer, a faint smile appeared in his eyes.

He took out a card and handed it to Claire Bennett, saying, "Since we've agreed, take this card back. You don't need to borrow money from Sean Shaw to pay me back. Return the card to him."

Claire Bennett stared blankly at the card in front of her. It was the money she'd gotten last time when she sold the matching rings. So Julian Sterling still didn't want her to go into debt, and that was why he had suggested waiting another six months?

Was he thinking of her?

A wave of emotion rose in her heart. He really was a man of very good character.

This wasn't a small amount of money. If he were a greedy man, he might have accepted it without a second word.

Claire Bennett explained, "I earned this money myself. I didn't borrow it from Sean Shaw. You don't need to worry that I won't be able to pay you back."

Julian Sterling was a little surprised. It was something he had never expected at all.

The money she gave him actually wasn't borrowed from Sean Shaw?

Seeing the distrustful look on Julian Sterling's face, Claire Bennett said, "What's with that look? Do you think that with my own abilities, I can't earn five million?"

The only reason she'd been living in such poverty before was because she had decided to abandon everything from her past and no longer touch anything related to jewelry design. Otherwise, why would she have needed to live so miserably?

Julian Sterling went from his initial astonishment to gradually calming down, and in the end, a bit of joy slowly welled up in his heart.

The fact that Claire Bennett didn't owe Sean Shaw any favors was a good thing to him.

Luckily, he had given himself and Claire Bennett a chance.

Julian Sterling said, "No. You're very capable."

Hearing his praise, a smile appeared at the corners of Claire Bennett's lips.

Suddenly, she remembered something and said with some distress, "Your parents asked us to go to dinner tomorrow. Should I bring some gifts? Seeing them today was so unexpected, I wasn't prepared at all."

"It's fine. They're not petty people. It's okay if you don't bring anything."

"How can that be? Going over empty-handed is so rude. Oh, right! And your sister, she'll be coming to dinner too, right? What does she like? Looks like I need to make proper preparations."

Claire Bennett remembered that his sister was already married and was a housewife.

And there were also his nephews. She had to prepare some things children would like too.

Julian Sterling's expression stiffened slightly. How had he forgotten that he also had a sister?

Where was he supposed to find a sister now?
