Whoever's Fake Is the One Embarrassed

The one Kelsey Lee was wearing had to be the fake, right?

This was hilarious. She hadn't even made a move yet, and Kelsey Lee had already rushed over to get herself killed, actually daring to wear a knockoff.

Matching outfits wasn't scary; whoever was fake was the one embarrassed!

When Kelsey Lee saw Claire Bennett appear, shock first flashed through her eyes. Then, after noticing Claire was wearing the same dress as she was, the color drained rapidly from her face, and panic surged in her heart.

Holly Hart narrowed her eyes and asked, "Who are they? Which family's daughters? How come I've never seen them before?"

She knew all the rich girls in Chicago and didn't recognize Claire Bennett or Ruby Sterling, who rarely showed her face and was also dressed in an extremely exaggerated way.

Kelsey Lee had already calmed down. She had heard about Claire Bennett's identity.

Just some ordinary woman who got insanely lucky and married Julian.

She shot Claire Bennett a contemptuous look and said, "They're not anybody's rich daughters. One's just an ordinary person, and I suppose the other one is too."

Kelsey Lee wasn't about to tell Holly Hart that Claire Bennett was Julian Sterling's wife.

Holly Hart immediately looked enlightened.

In order to curry favor with Kelsey Lee, this "Sterling family heiress," she turned her fire on Claire Bennett, planning to target her.

Holly Hart let out a cold laugh, her face full of mockery, and said in a snide, sarcastic tone, "Tsk, that's what I thought. How could someone dare wear a counterfeit knockoff to a gathering like this? Aren't you afraid of humiliating yourself to death? So you're just some ordinary person, with no sense of proper manners at all!"

After saying that, Holly Hart ignored basic courtesy and stepped forward to grab the hem of Claire Bennett's dress. Her expression became even more disdainful as she said with open disgust, "This kind of fabric—however you look at it, it's obviously fake."

Kelsey Lee had originally been worried that people would notice something because she and Claire Bennett were wearing the same dress, but now that someone had actually stepped up for her, relief appeared in her eyes, and she stood by with folded arms in an excellent mood.

After all, her identity right now was Ruby Sterling. Even if Claire Bennett really was wearing the genuine dress, no one would know or believe it.

If anyone was to blame, blame her identity!

Kelsey Lee put on an affected tone and said, "Maybe it's just a similar design. You all shouldn't pursue it anymore. It wouldn't be good if things got ugly."

"What similar design! I think they're exactly the same, just with different color vibrancy. The one you're wearing has bright, vivid color, while hers is all dull and grayish. It couldn't look more fake!"

After saying that, she flung Claire Bennett's skirt hem away in one motion, then immediately took out a handkerchief and wiped her hands as though she'd dirtied them.

Claire Bennett's expression turned cold at once.

Even though the dress she was wearing was fairly long, if this woman yanked it up like that and she wasn't careful, she would probably end up exposed.

When Holly Hart met the look Claire Bennett cast over at her, for some reason she felt that Claire had an extremely powerful presence, a kind of lofty contempt that made her hair stand on end.

How strange... Wasn't she just an ordinary person with no status or background? Why did she have such a strong aura?

Claire Bennett lifted a hand and smoothed out the wrinkles in her dress, then said coldly, "Didn't your parents teach you to maintain proper manners in public? Is this the kind of conduct expected of a rich young lady from a prominent family?"

Ruby Sterling folded her arms across her chest and chimed in, "Exactly. Your upbringing is terrible. You even put your hands all over someone else's dress. I think everyone should stop associating with her, or your reputations will suffer too."

Hearing that, the others all instinctively showed a bit of avoidance.

Seeing this, Holly Hart's expression stiffened, and unwillingly she said, "Was I wrong? This woman came here wearing a fake. She's disgracing all of us. If word gets out that someone at our gathering wore a fake, we'll be utterly humiliated!"

Ruby Sterling smiled and said, "Yeah, I also think it's such a coincidence. Maybe someone really is wearing a fake."

In everyone's eyes, Kelsey Lee was now the Sterling family heiress, so if she said that, then the one wearing the fake had to be the other person.

But they were also confused—wasn't the woman beside Ruby Sterling her sister?

If she was saying things like this, wasn't she stabbing her own good sister in the back?

Could it be that the two of them had a fake friendship—looking close on the surface, but not actually as good as they seemed?

The rich girls around them all started whispering among themselves.

"Vivian Yu's clothes are expensive, sure, but it's not like we can't afford them. It's just hard to get on her schedule."

"Coming to an occasion like this in a fake—aren't they afraid of making a fool of themselves?"

"If she wants to fit in with us, who would play with her if she dressed too shabbily? Using any means necessary is understandable."

Before coming here, Claire Bennett actually hadn't known where Ruby Sterling was taking her. They had even specifically gone to get dressed up after leaving, and she hadn't expected they were coming to a place like this.

Then when she saw Kelsey Lee again, she understood completely.

Ruby Sterling had probably heard yesterday that Julian Sterling's sister disliked her and had even wanted to set a trap for her over dinner, and couldn't swallow it, so she had decided to stand up for her.
