There Was a Problem with the Artwork

Even though she hadn't yet heard what Molly Lee was going to say next, Claire Bennett already had a vague suspicion.

There was a problem with a piece of artwork that had passed through her hands...

Heh, this kind of thing really was familiar!

Claire Bennett's face darkened, and memories from the past slowly surfaced.

Back when she was at Bennett Group, something like this had happened to her too. The only difference was that the draft back then had been her own drawing, yet it had coincided with the work of some famous master. At first she thought it was just a coincidence, but then that master produced evidence.

Her artwork really had been completed earlier than hers!

What happened afterward was just what you'd expect: Victor Bennett suspended her and sent her home, while her precious stepsister took her place and had now become the one in charge at Bennett Group.

Whenever Claire Bennett thought back on those things before, she still felt weighed down.

But now she could face them calmly.

Maybe time had smoothed over her wounds, and she no longer cared as much.

Claire Bennett pulled her thoughts back and said mockingly, "What kind of problem showed up with that artwork? Don't tell me it was exposed for plagiarism."

When Molly Lee heard that, she looked at Claire Bennett in surprise. "Director Claire, how did you know?"

She paused, then quickly continued, "Willow Lane's artwork was suddenly exposed for plagiarizing a master's work in the industry, and now she's saying you restored the draft. What she means is that you were the one who plagiarized it. What do we do? If this gets confirmed, we're finished!"

In this industry, of course Molly Lee knew what the worst-case scenario was.

For people in design, this was exactly the kind of thing they feared most.

If it wasn't handled properly, it could very likely ruin someone's reputation and career.

This concerned Claire Bennett's future now. If she couldn't clear her name, then everything might be over!

Claire Bennett sneered inwardly. This tactic was so familiar. Hadn't she already gone through this back when she was at Bennett Group? And now it was being used on her all over again.

How wonderful indeed!

Luckily, she had already had a feeling at the time that Willow Lane was definitely going to pull something.

But first, she still needed to go see what the situation actually was.

Claire said, "Don't panic yet. Let's go take a look at what's going on. Come on."

The moment the two of them walked out, they saw Willow Lane coming over with a whole group of people. She was holding a set of documents in her hand, and when she saw Claire Bennett, she smiled and said, "Claire Bennett, where are you planning to go? Don't tell me you're trying to run away before facing the consequences?"

The people behind her all chimed in too. "Exactly! Who would've thought you'd do something like this? You did it on purpose, didn't you? On the surface you said you were helping Willow restore the artwork, but in reality you secretly tampered with her draft!"

Claire Bennett's gaze was icy as she looked at the group in front of her. She only said flatly, "Let me see the draft."

"What, you want to destroy the evidence? Even if you do, it won't help. I heard they've already taken this all the way to Sterling International's top floor. You don't really think you can get away with it, do you?"

Willow Lane shot her a contemptuous glance, the mockery on her face unmistakable.

This time, she would make Claire Bennett leave Maison Verne in disgrace just like she had left Bennett Group, and never be able to work in this industry again!
