She Was Invited by Me

Ethan Sterling seemed to have returned to how he used to be, looking handsome and dashing, every bit the polished gentleman.

He slowly walked over to Claire Bennett and asked Caleb Monroe, "What happened? What are you all doing here?"

"Young Master Ethan." After seeing Ethan Sterling, Caleb Monroe reined in his attitude a little. He said, "This woman was trying to sneak in, but I caught her. I'm having her thrown out right now."

Claire Bennett frowned tightly.

She had no desire at all to get entangled with Ethan Sterling again. There was nothing between them anymore.

Seeing Ethan Sterling made her think of what had happened at Kinley Estate. That incident had dealt her quite a blow, and even now she still didn't dare come clean to Julian Sterling.

Ethan Sterling's gaze slowly fell on Claire Bennett, and then he said softly, "She was invited by me."

"Huh? This woman was... was invited by you?" Caleb Monroe exclaimed.

But seeing that Ethan Sterling didn't look like he was joking at all, he immediately had no doubts.

"I'm sorry, Young Master Ethan. I didn't know she was invited by you. My apologies!" Caleb Monroe said, then quickly left with the bodyguards.

After Caleb Monroe left, Ethan Sterling finally looked at Claire Bennett.

He said gently, "Claire, what are you doing here?"

"That's none of your business." Claire Bennett answered with complete coldness.

Ethan Sterling's expression darkened slightly, seeming somewhat dissatisfied with Claire Bennett's attitude. He said, "Claire, I've already apologized to you. Can't you forgive me? We can forget everything and start over."

For the past few days, he'd been investigating Julian Sterling's affairs and hadn't gone to see Claire Bennett.

Originally, he had been thinking that after he got to the bottom of Julian Sterling's situation, he would go find Claire Bennett and get back together with her. He hadn't expected to run into her here instead. It was both a surprise and unexpected.

He looked at Claire Bennett with gentle eyes and said, "Claire, can we start over?"

"Ethan Sterling, I've already said this many times. What's between us is over. You don't need to say things like that again in the future. I won't change my mind."

Claire Bennett found Ethan Sterling a little annoying. She wanted to shake off this clingy pest as quickly as possible.

Did he actually think she was an idiot?

Ethan Sterling decided Naomi Pierce had no more value to him, so he dumped her directly, and now he had come looking for her again. Did he really think she couldn't guess what his purpose was?

If Grandma Sterling hadn't told her to wait here, she couldn't be bothered to pay Ethan Sterling any attention at all.

A chill entered Ethan Sterling's eyes. "Claire, we had beautiful times together too. Have you forgotten the places we went in New York back then, everything we went through together?"

Even now, Ethan Sterling was still trying to use the past to make Claire Bennett change her mind.

"Ethan Sterling, I don't want to say much more to you. Could you stop showing up in front of us? My husband will get jealous."

Maybe because she'd said "my husband" to Zane Cole too many times, Claire Bennett said it now with particular ease.

As soon as the words left Claire Bennett's mouth, she successfully saw Ethan Sterling's expression change.

He probably didn't like hearing that, but what did that have to do with her?
