Chapter 352
You and I Are Not Enemies
As Willow Lane listened to all the whispers against her, her face went from green to white. In the end, she shot Claire Bennett and Molly Lee a vicious glare, then turned and left in anger.
Mr. Grant revealed a disappointed expression. A woman with that kind of temper, arrogant and overbearing—there was nothing likable about her at all.
Luckily, he hadn't chosen to work with her, or there would probably have been no small amount of trouble down the road.
Someone as emotionally steady as Claire Bennett was the best possible partner.
"Where was I just now?" Mr. Grant thought for a moment, then seemed to remember. Smiling, he looked at Claire Bennett and said sincerely, "Miss Bennett, my wife insisted that I invite you to join us for a meal. Would that be all right?"
Claire Bennett also wanted to meet Mrs. Grant, so she nodded and agreed.
Then she suddenly remembered something and said, "Oh, right. I need to tell my family that I won't be coming home for dinner tonight."
Mr. Grant naturally had no objection.
Claire Bennett took her phone and walked off to the side. She called Julian Sterling.
It rang twice before the call was answered.
"Congratulations!" Julian Sterling spoke first before Claire Bennett could say anything.
After hearing that, Claire Bennett said a little gloomily, "I haven't even said anything yet, and you already know I won?"
"Of course I know. My sixth sense has always been very accurate."
Claire Bennett curled her lips into a smile. Actually, it was Julian Sterling who had given her confidence. If he hadn't told her about Mrs. Grant, she probably wouldn't have been able to perform at her best either.
She really was happy that she had won. She had originally planned to celebrate with Julian Sterling, but unexpectedly, Mr. Grant had invited her to dinner.
She let out a sigh and said apologetically, "Just now Mr. and Mrs. Grant invited me to dinner, so I won't be coming back to eat tonight. Find somewhere to eat on your own first, okay? Tomorrow I'll celebrate properly with you, all right?"
Julian Sterling was very considerate and didn't make a fuss. He only said, "Okay. When you're done eating, I'll come pick you up."
Hearing that, Claire Bennett went with Mr. Grant to dinner at ease.
...
At the same time, Willow Lane walked out of Bertha Jewelry with a dark expression.
When she reached the lobby, Hazel Lewis, who had been sitting on the sofa, immediately walked over and stopped her. "Miss Lane."
Willow Lane looked terrible and had no mood to deal with anyone else. She gave Hazel Lewis a cold look.
A faint smile curved Hazel Lewis's lips as she asked with concern, "If I'm not mistaken, were you eliminated just now?"
Hearing Hazel Lewis's words, Willow Lane assumed she was there to laugh at her too, and her expression instantly turned even uglier.
"What's it to you!"
Hazel Lewis didn't take Willow Lane's attitude to heart. She had thought things over carefully just now, and then she realized something!
Claire Bennett didn't seem to know Julian Sterling's identity, and this employee who kept claiming she was President Sterling's girlfriend also seemed a little strange.
According to her earlier investigation, there had only ever been one woman around Julian Sterling, and Willow Lane had never been among them.
Then why would Willow Lane say she was President Sterling's girlfriend?
There was only one guess: Willow Lane had mistaken someone else for Julian Sterling.
But that wasn't the key point. The most important thing was that Willow Lane was Claire Bennett's formidable rival. She could use Willow Lane to fight Claire Bennett, make them battle each other to the death, while she sat back and watched the tigers fight from the mountain. That way, she could get rid of Claire Bennett without spending the slightest bit of effort.
Hazel Lewis suppressed the thoughts in her heart and said with a faint smile, "Miss Lane, you and I are not enemies. I'm here to help you."
Willow Lane looked at Hazel Lewis suspiciously, her face full of wariness. "Help me? Why would you help me?"
"I already told you last time, Claire Bennett is my enemy. We share the same enemy, so naturally that makes you my friend. I'll help you come up with plans to deal with Claire Bennett."
Willow Lane hadn't thought much of Hazel Lewis before, but just now she had been crushed by Claire Bennett.
Now, hearing Hazel Lewis say that, she immediately said half-believing, half-doubting, "Fine! If you can help me teach Claire Bennett a lesson and make her suffer a little, then I'll believe you."
