Chapter 385
Visiting Old Mr. Sterling and Old Mrs. Sterling
After turning on his phone, he saw the message Old Mrs. Sterling had sent him: one was an address in the Lake Geneva countryside, and the other was a reassuring note telling him not to worry about his identity being exposed.
Only then did Julian Sterling remember that when Old Mr. Sterling had wanted to recuperate, he'd later said the air and environment in the country were better, so they bought a small house out in the country and planned to let Old Mr. Sterling go there to recover. It was just that Old Mr. Sterling had been a bit busier lately and still hadn't had time to move in.
But even though no one was living there, it had always been looked after.
Old Mrs. Sterling had actually gone there with Old Mr. Sterling just so his identity wouldn't be exposed.
The tension in Julian Sterling's eyes gradually faded. Grandma was so good to him.
Now there was no need to worry about his identity being exposed, either.
"What exactly happened? Did something unexpected happen on your grandpa and grandma's side?" Seeing the change in Julian Sterling's expression, Claire Bennett had no idea what had happened. Afraid that something might have gone wrong, she anxiously grabbed Julian Sterling and questioned him.
Julian Sterling put down his phone and reassured her, "It's nothing. Don't be nervous. Grandma was just asking what we want to eat tonight so she can prepare ahead of time."
Hearing that, Claire Bennett finally relaxed.
"Uh... we just ate."
That was nothing but an excuse Julian Sterling made up. He gently rubbed Claire Bennett's head and said, "Then we'll think about it later. Let's go. Grandpa and Grandma are waiting for us."
Julian Sterling started the car, turned in another direction, and drove toward the Lake Geneva countryside.
About an hour and a half later, they arrived at their destination.
This was the suburb on the outskirts of New York. Scattered here and there were several households, but most of them were elderly people. The young people had all gone into the city to work.
The original owner of this house had racked up huge gambling debts and, left with no choice, mortgaged the house. Later, the Sterling family bought it. Since the surrounding environment looked pretty good, they didn't make any changes, just renovated the little courtyard.
To blend in with the surrounding environment, they also hadn't made it overly luxurious.
Instead, it had a kind of back-to-basics rural pastoral style.
The car stopped in the little courtyard. Julian Sterling opened the car door and got out, then opened Claire Bennett's door for her.
After seeing the little courtyard, Claire Bennett looked around curiously.
So this was where Julian Sterling's grandparents lived? The environment looked quite nice.
"Julian, Claire, you're here. Come in and sit down," Old Mrs. Sterling came out from inside the house and warmly, kindly greeted Julian Sterling and Claire Bennett.
Julian Sterling said, "Grandma."
Seeing that, Claire Bennett followed suit and called out, "Grandma."
After seeing Julian Sterling and Claire Bennett, the smile on Old Mrs. Sterling's face never stopped. Even the wrinkles on her face seemed to deepen a little. Looking at the two of them, she smiled and said, "All right, hurry in. Your grandpa has been waiting for you the whole time."
Right after that, Julian Sterling took Claire Bennett's hand and led her inside.
Old Mr. Sterling was sitting in a chair. Hearing the sound of Claire Bennett and Julian Sterling coming in, he didn't even lift his eyes.
"Grandpa, I'm here," Julian Sterling called out.
Claire Bennett also called out from the side.
Seeing that Old Mr. Sterling was obviously very happy that Julian Sterling had come to see him yet still wore a stern face all day, Old Mrs. Sterling couldn't help saying, "Oh my, Julian's here. Why are you still wearing that long face?"
Only then did Old Mr. Sterling let out a light snort and raise his eyes to glance at Claire Bennett and Julian Sterling.
