Chapter 407

Have You Worked at Bennett Group Before?

Julian Sterling walked toward Claire Bennett, then trapped her between the sink and his chest. He let out a soft laugh and said meaningfully, "What I said just now was that you should go first. I'll be there in a bit."

"..." Claire Bennett realized she was still too innocent. That was not how she'd understood it at all.

She really hadn't expected that this was what Julian Sterling meant.

But by the time she understood, it was already too late. She was like a little lamb that had fallen into a trap.

Was this supposed to mean they were going to take a bath together?

At the thought, her face began to redden. Even though they had already done things far more intimate than this, she still couldn't quite face him calmly right now.

Unfortunately, she was trapped in Julian Sterling's chest now, wrapped up in his cool, crisp scent so completely that there wasn't the slightest gap, and there was no escaping. Breathing in his scent, Claire Bennett felt as if she were about to get drunk.

Claire Bennett lifted her head and met Julian Sterling's eyes, clearly seeing the blazing fire burning in them, as if it wanted to burn her to ashes.

"Ju... Julian..." She suddenly felt a little nervous.

The last time, because she'd been drugged, that time with Julian Sterling had even left her injured. She had indeed recovered quite a bit recently, but there was still some lingering fear in her heart.

But very quickly, under Julian Sterling's forceful advance, she surrendered completely and let him conquer every last one of her defenses.

The next day, Claire Bennett got up rubbing her waist, unable to stop herself from furiously cursing a certain man in her heart.

Just as she was stewing in dissatisfaction, Julian Sterling pushed the door open and walked in.

Claire Bennett gave a soft huff of annoyance and didn't really want to pay him any attention.

Julian Sterling walked over and sat down beside the bed, asking gently, "Breakfast is ready. Do you want to eat first or wash up first?"

Knowing he was trying to make up for his crime, which was why he'd gotten up before her to prepare breakfast, Claire Bennett had originally still been a little unhappy, but now that small bit of resentment in her heart had almost completely disappeared, and her displeasure was quickly swept away.

Seeing that Claire Bennett was moving slowly as she got up, Julian Sterling asked, "Do you want me to carry you?"

"No need."

Claire Bennett felt she wasn't that weak. She could just bear with it.

Seeing her refusal, Julian Sterling didn't force the matter.

...

After breakfast, the two of them went out and headed to work.

As soon as they arrived at Maison Verne, Molly Lee immediately came over to report the latest news. She said, "Manager Bennett, I just went to Nia's people and told them we've agreed to the weekend dinner gathering."

Only then did Claire Bennett remember the matter involving Willow Lane and President Sterling.

She curled her lips slightly, revealing a meaningful smile. She was just waiting to watch Willow Lane court disaster this weekend.

Before the weekend even arrived, a piece of gossip about Claire Bennett suddenly started circulating inside Sterling International.

Molly Lee directly asked gossipily, "Manager Bennett, have you worked at Bennett Group before?"

"How do you know that?" Claire Bennett looked at her in confusion.

"Someone said it in the company's internal group chat." Molly Lee sighed and said, "I was wondering why Willow Lane is so at odds with you. Turns out she came from Bennett Group too. You two used to be coworkers!"

Someone in the company's internal group had exposed her past?

Claire Bennett frowned slightly.

She wasn't in the company's main internal group chat, so she didn't know about the news. "Give me your phone so I can take a look."

Molly Lee immediately handed her phone to Claire Bennett. Claire Bennett looked through the chat history. It was basically some person she didn't recognize saying a few things in the group about the position she'd held at Bennett Group before and similar details, but nothing more.

Quite a few people in the group were discussing it animatedly, surprised that Claire Bennett had this kind of past.

Claire Bennett's brows furrowed slightly.

Her past in New York, aside from her identity as a daughter of the Bennett family, wasn't something especially deeply hidden. Sooner or later, people were bound to find out about it.

It was just that... for some reason, her expression grew a little heavier, and a faint trace of worry flashed in her eyes.

What had happened back then had basically been dealt with, so there shouldn't be any follow-up trouble.

Thinking that, Claire Bennett stopped worrying about the matter.
