No Matter What, I Like You

She hadn't expected Julian Sterling to be so good at sweet-talking now. His words made her heart start racing.

It was just too embarrassing.

That evening, everyone ate together. There were a lot of people at the Sterling family home today, and the dinner table was especially lively.

Last time, because of Megan Sterling's matter, Claire Bennett hadn't eaten with the Sterling family, and Julian Sterling had even left with her because of it.

Now it could be considered making up for that.

The only regret was that Megan Sterling was sitting beside her, with only Ruby Sterling between them.

"Sister-in-law, we've had quite a few misunderstandings before. We're all family. I hope you won't hold it against me."

Claire Bennett held a cold sneer on her lips. Megan Sterling was saying these things to her in front of everyone. If she went against Megan Sterling, it would definitely cause Grandpa Sterling to become dissatisfied with her.

Ethan Sterling narrowed his eyes as he looked at Claire Bennett and Megan Sterling, a thoughtful look appearing in his eyes.

Tanya Sterling also sensed that something was up. Her expression was mocking, as though she were waiting to watch Claire Bennett make a fool of herself.

As for the others, each had their own thoughts.

After thinking it over, Claire Bennett still didn't want to swallow this anger. She spoke up: "Family doesn't scheme against each other. As long as you don't do anything to me, naturally I won't hold anything against you."

It seemed Megan Sterling had been waiting for Claire Bennett to take the bait. She hadn't expected her to actually go along with it.

A mocking look flashed through her eyes, but on her face she wore an injured, pitiful expression as she said, "Sister-in-law, I sincerely want to make peace with you. I've already stopped holding what you did against you."

That day, Claire Bennett had left in anger, and Julian Sterling had gone after her too, so the matter had ended there without resolution.

Now that Megan Sterling was bringing it up, she was clearly trying to stir up conflict between Claire Bennett and the Sterling family.

When Ruby Sterling heard Megan Sterling say those things, she was so angry she wanted to stand up for Claire Bennett.

However, before she could speak, Julian Sterling beside them had already spoken.

Julian Sterling lifted his eyes and looked toward Megan Sterling, then said flatly, "After dinner, go back. And if there's nothing important, don't come here anymore. That way you won't have to worry about Claire doing anything to you."

"My brother's right. Since you and Claire don't get along, then don't come here anymore. It'd keep you from affecting Claire's pregnancy."

The Sterling family placed great importance on the next generation. Otherwise, after learning Claire Bennett was pregnant, they wouldn't have worried that she couldn't take proper care of herself and had her move back to the Sterling family home to live together with them.

After hearing Ruby Sterling's words, that bit of dissatisfaction disappeared completely.

Grandpa Sterling said in a deep voice, "Julian is right. In the future, you all should come here less often."

The expressions of several people present changed slightly.
