Ch. 52 - What Type Do You Like

Chapter 52

What Type Do You Like

Crown Taste House.

The woman looked at Julian Sterling in front of her with admiration in her eyes.

He was just sitting there quietly, tall and handsome, carrying a naturally forceful, oppressive presence. His eyes were cold and sharp, and his whole body radiated an air of abstinence.

A man like this was the kind that stirred a woman's heart the most, making women flock to him.

What's more, he was the most promising heir of the Sterling family, and his status, position, and wealth only added to his indescribable masculine charm.

Fiona Monroe's cheeks quietly flushed. When her father had originally told her to come to Chicago for a blind date, she had been somewhat unwilling, but she hadn't expected Julian Sterling to be this perfect, countless times better than those rich playboy heirs in New York.

"President Sterling, Old Mr. Sterling said you're usually very busy and don't have time to go back to New York, so I took the liberty of coming here. I hope you don't mind."

Julian Sterling looked coldly at the woman in front of him, his thin lips curling into a mocking arc. "If you know it's presumptuous, then you shouldn't have come."

He was at work at Sterling International when his grandfather suddenly dropped a woman on him out of nowhere, saying she was there to go on a blind date with him, and even specifically named him to treat her to dinner.

Otherwise, he wouldn't be sitting here now.

Fiona Monroe's expression stiffened for a moment when she heard Julian Sterling's words.

She hadn't expected Julian Sterling to be so unfeeling, not leaving the slightest bit of room in the way he spoke.

But a man like this who didn't suck up to power was much better than the men who usually tried to curry favor with her, and she liked him very much.

Not only was Fiona Monroe not angry, she found Julian Sterling even more charming.

Julian Sterling had originally wanted Claire Bennett to show up in his place, but when he thought about how her mess with Ethan Sterling still hadn't been resolved, and how his grandfather's side wouldn't be easy to fool, now wasn't the right time.

So for the moment, he would handle it himself first.

Fiona Monroe quickly pulled herself together, then smiled again and said, "President Sterling really knows how to joke."

"I never joke."

"..."

At that moment, there was a knock on the private room door, and a server came in with the dishes, finally easing the awkwardness in the air.

"This is the couple's set meal you ordered. Please enjoy."

The server bowed and left with the tray.

Fiona Monroe lifted her eyes and discreetly sized Julian Sterling up.

She had deliberately ordered the couple's set meal because she wanted to see how Julian Sterling would react.

But at the moment, it seemed he had no reaction at all.

The suit Julian Sterling was wearing looked fairly ordinary in texture, and it was impossible to tell what brand it was, but his aristocratic bearing made people ignore everything else.

Fiona Monroe wanted to catch his attention, so she was extremely careful in every word and action, full of the noble elegance of a wealthy young lady.

She picked up her knife and fork and said softly, "President Sterling, let's eat."

Julian Sterling glanced at his watch, his brows knitting slightly. He stood up and said, "I still have a meeting tonight. You can eat by yourself. I've already paid the bill."

After saying that, he opened the door and left without the slightest hesitation.

Fiona Monroe stared at his departing back in shock. What kind of meeting was held at night?

He definitely didn't like her.

She gave an unhappy little huff and took out her phone to call her father.

Julian Sterling walked to the entrance. Just as he pulled open the car door and was about to drive away, he received a call from Old Mr. Sterling.

"You brat! Did you dump Ms. Monroe at the restaurant?"

He found out that quickly—someone had definitely complained.

Julian Sterling's lips curled into a mocking smile. "Yeah. She's not suitable. I don't like that type."

"Then what type do you like? I refuse to believe there isn't a single one in all of New York that you'd like!" Old Mr. Sterling roared angrily, his voice full of vigor.

What type did he like?

A slender figure suddenly appeared in Julian Sterling's mind.

When Old Mr. Sterling heard Julian Sterling fall silent, he let out a cold snort and snapped, "Come to New York right now. I have something to tell you."

After saying that, he hung up directly without waiting for Julian Sterling to answer.

Every so often, Julian Sterling had to go to New York for training. Old Mr. Sterling truly did intend to hand the enormous Sterling family over to him, and everything he was preparing now was for taking over the Sterling family in the future.

It was just that... by the old man's side, there would probably be even more women showing up at his door, but he had no choice but to face it.

Julian Sterling pinched the bridge of his nose and took a deep breath.

He had originally wanted to go back to the apartment, but he was afraid Claire Bennett would ask too many questions and make him slip up.

In the end, after thinking it over, he took out his phone and sent Claire Bennett a text message.

At the apartment, Claire Bennett had been waiting so long she was starting to get sleepy, but Julian Sterling still hadn't come back. She wanted to call and ask him about it, but she was afraid of interrupting his date with his girlfriend.

She couldn't help starting to let her imagination run wild. Could it be that after finishing dinner with his girlfriend, he had gone somewhere else and wasn't coming back?

There were plenty of places a couple could go...

For some reason, there was a sour feeling in her heart.

It felt as though she had been abandoned all over again, and yet she and Julian Sterling were nothing at all, just two strangers who had ended up together because of an accident.

Just then, her phone on the table gave a ding. She immediately snapped back to herself, quickly picked up the phone from the table, and unlocked it.

It was a message from Julian Sterling.

He said he was going on a business trip with that person and would come back as soon as possible.

A disappointed look appeared on Claire Bennett's face. She had been waiting for Julian Sterling to come back all this time, but she hadn't expected him to have gone on a business trip.

She looked at the table full of dishes in front of her and let out a soft sigh.

In the end, Claire Bennett ate the Crown Taste House meal by herself.
