Guess Who I Saw

Claire Bennett stood where she was, watching Zane Cole's car disappear into the distance. She felt he was a very good man, but unfortunately they weren't suitable for each other. She hoped that in the future he would meet someone he truly liked.

As the moon sank and the stars faded, the night quickly passed.

Claire Bennett spent one night in Zane Cole's detached house. Although he had told her to stay as she pleased, she still didn't want to trouble him for too long. As for the Bennett family, she had no plans to go back there either. With her stepmother and Ava Bennett there, even if she stayed, she'd feel sickened in every possible way.

In the end, she decided to move out and live on her own, somewhere near her mother's hospital so it would also be convenient for taking care of her mother.

So the next day, she got up early to look for a place.

She looked at Claire Bennett and asked politely, "Ms. Bennett, hello. You can just call me Lily. What kind of place are you looking for?"

After thinking for a moment, Claire Bennett said, "Within a five-minute walk of the hospital, and with a slightly better environment and security. My requirements aren't very high."

"Okay, I'll check right away for you." As she spoke, Lily turned on her tablet to look through the listings she had on hand.

After quite a while, she said, "I've found several places for you here. You can look at the pictures first. I'm going to use the restroom."

Claire Bennett picked up the tablet and carefully looked through the houses Lily had shown her, waiting for her to come back at the same time.

In a corner, Lily took out her phone and dialed a number.

The moment the call connected, she said excitedly, "Ava, you'd never guess. Guess who I saw?"

Lily knew Ava Bennett. She had always been currying favor with Ava Bennett, hoping Ava would introduce her to a boyfriend. She wanted to marry into money and change her social class.

Ava Bennett had often talked about Claire Bennett, so Lily knew who Claire Bennett was.

And she had seen her photo. Claire Bennett, however, didn't know her.

She knew all about Ava Bennett's contempt for Claire Bennett, so when she had just seen Claire Bennett earlier, she had been so surprised. She immediately found an excuse to leave so she could tip Ava Bennett off.

"Who did you see?" Ava Bennett asked impatiently.

After all, a woman of Lily's status wasn't part of the circle of people Ava Bennett made friends with. Ava only paid attention to Lily because she enjoyed being fawned over by her.

"I saw Claire Bennett! She's looking for a place right now..."

As soon as Ava Bennett heard Lily's words, her attitude immediately changed.

She said, "What did you say?"

There had never been any dealings between the Sterling family and the Bennett family, so Ava Bennett didn't know about Claire Bennett's situation. But that didn't mean no one else knew. After asking around, Ava Bennett found out what had happened to Claire Bennett at the Sterling family's birthday banquet yesterday.

She vaguely guessed that Claire Bennett had been kicked out by the Sterling family.

After learning this good news, she almost died laughing.

She never thought Claire Bennett would have a day like this too. It really was karma!

Now that Claire Bennett had become so down-and-out, how should she mock her properly?

Claire Bennett had done so many things to her before, and had even wanted to enter Bennett Group to steal her position. Ava Bennett had already held a grudge for a long time. Now that Claire Bennett no longer had Julian Sterling and no longer had the Sterling family backing her up, Grandpa definitely wouldn't value her anymore.

The more Ava Bennett thought about it, the better she felt.

Her eyes shifted, and she suddenly thought of a way to make things difficult for Claire Bennett.

So she immediately called Lily and said, "Lily, listen to me. In a bit, you bring Claire Bennett..."

After Lily finished her call with Ava Bennett, she returned to Claire Bennett's side as if nothing had happened.

She smiled and asked, "Ms. Bennett, have you found anything you like? Shall I take you to see the actual unit?"

Claire Bennett nodded, showed Lily one of the places she had just seen, and said, "I think this one looks pretty good. Take me to see it."

This was in a relatively new residential complex. The units were fairly new, and the security at the entrance was also good.

Lily immediately nodded. "Okay, okay. I'll take you there right now."

The two of them quickly arrived at the residential complex. Claire Bennett looked the place over carefully and felt it was pretty good, so she decided to rent it.

"Lily, hi, I'll rent this place."

Just as Claire Bennett was about to pay, a mocking, snide voice sounded from the doorway.

"Claire Bennett, how did you end up in such a sorry state? You actually have to come out and look for a place? That's just too pathetic, isn't it?"

Right after that, Ava Bennett's smug figure appeared before her eyes.

Claire Bennett was still quite surprised to see Ava Bennett. After all, this was a private rental property, and Ava Bennett showing up here was rather abnormal.

She looked at Ava Bennett with cool eyes. "Why are you here? What are you doing here?"
