Ch. 536 - Setting Julian Sterling Up on a Blind Date

Chapter 536

Setting Julian Sterling Up on a Blind Date

Ruby Sterling couldn't wait to leave the Sterling family home and go warn Julian Sterling.

...

"Julian! This is bad!"

Ruby rushed straight to Sterling Group. The moment the elevator doors opened, she charged out impatiently, wanting to tell Julian Sterling the news.

At the entrance, when Marcus Reed saw how panicked Ruby looked, he quickly asked, "Miss Sterling, what happened?"

"Is my brother in there? I have something very important to tell him!" Ruby was so anxious she started to head straight for the office.

Marcus hurriedly stopped her and said, "The shareholders are here for a meeting today. Mr. Sterling is in the conference room right now, not in his office. Why don't you wait a bit?"

Even though Ruby was extremely anxious, for the moment she could only wait.

While she was waiting, Ruby looked at Marcus and started asking him about how Julian Sterling had been lately. She asked, "Marcus, let me ask you... how has my brother been recently?"

Hearing Ruby's question, Marcus sighed helplessly. "Mr. Sterling... hasn't been doing too well lately..."

Ruby immediately got nervous and quickly pressed, "What's wrong with my brother?"

"Ever since he split up with Miss Bennett, he's been working like his life depends on it. He hasn't gone back for three days already, and every day he's been working overtime. We're all about to be tortured to death by him!"

He was starting to suspect that even though Julian Sterling looked fine on the surface, he'd actually been hit very hard. He had worked for three straight days and nights, like some tireless robot.

But they, his subordinates, were flesh and blood. How could they keep going along with him like this?

It was as if Marcus had finally found an outlet, and he just kept complaining to Ruby nonstop.

When Ruby heard that, her brows knit tightly together.

Last time, when she saw that Julian Sterling hadn't reacted at all, she had thought he didn't care in the slightest. Later, though, she saw that he seemed to have some kind of plan, and only then had she felt relieved.

Now it seemed the situation wasn't as good as she'd imagined after all.

As the two of them were talking, the conference room doors opened, and the people inside filed out one after another. Julian Sterling walked in the middle. Dressed in a sharp, tailored suit, his expression was steady and restrained, and he carried an incredibly powerful presence.

Marcus wasn't by Julian Sterling's side helping him today. The one who had been in the conference room was Wes Mercer, and his whole face was full of exhaustion. Clearly, that meeting just now had not been easy.

When Ruby saw Julian Sterling come out, she quickly went up to him. "Julian, you're finally out! I need to talk to you."

Julian Sterling glanced at her lightly, and the expression on his face eased slightly. In a low voice, he said, "Mm. Come in."

With that, he took the lead and walked into the office.

Inside the office.

As soon as Ruby came in, she immediately said, "Julian, do you know that Grandpa has already started arranging blind dates for you?"

Julian Sterling sat on the sofa and lifted his eyes to look at Ruby. "And then?"

"And then... and then... the girl he found for you is a Miss Young from the Young family. I think I've heard of her before. She's a woman who's both very capable and very attractive, not even in the same league as a white-lotus phony like Hazel Lewis. And Grandpa even asked her to come over for dinner tonight. As soon as I found out about it, I came to warn you."

Julian Sterling's brows drew together, and his expression turned grave.

These past few days, he had deliberately stayed away from the Sterling family home. One reason was that he wanted to speed things up and complete his plan. The other was that he was worried Old Mr. Sterling would try to talk to him about this sort of thing. He hadn't expected that no matter what, he still wouldn't be able to avoid it.

"Julian, hurry up and think of something! I think Grandpa is forcing you to have dinner with Miss Young first, and maybe next time he'll make you two go get a marriage license."

That was absolutely the kind of thing Old Mr. Sterling was capable of doing!

When Julian Sterling heard Ruby's words, he couldn't help but let out a cold laugh. "Claire and I aren't divorced yet."

What he meant was that he still had a legal relationship with Claire Bennett, so no matter how much Old Mr. Sterling worried and fussed, there was nothing he could do about it.

"What... you and Claire..." Ruby was a little surprised, but then she became happy again. She hadn't expected that Julian Sterling and Claire Bennett were still husband and wife. That meant there was nothing to worry about.

But if the old man found out about this, he definitely wouldn't let it go.

Ruby anxiously said again, "Then Grandpa's telling you to go home tonight and have dinner with Miss Young. Why don't you just hide out? I'll cover for you and deal with Grandpa."

Julian Sterling gently shook his head. "No need."

"Why not? Don't tell me you really want to go on a blind date with Miss Young?" Ruby glared at Julian Sterling in displeasure, looking very much as though if he dared give that answer, she would not let him off easily.

"Avoiding it isn't a way to solve the problem."

Julian Sterling understood Old Mr. Sterling too well. He knew the old man's personality was stubborn. If he really hid this time, it would only make him fly into a rage. It would be better to face it directly instead.

Originally, he had already done everything he could, but now it seemed impossible to accomplish his goal in the short term.

Julian Sterling pinched the bridge of his nose, his face full of irritation and even a kind of helpless frustration.

Ever since what happened last time, he had realized that as long as he remained in the Sterling family, both he and Claire Bennett would continue to be constrained at every turn. So he decided to separate from Claire Bennett for the time being, then use the shortest possible time to seize complete control of the Sterling family and create a free environment for Claire Bennett, so the two of them could be together without any scruples.

In the future, at banquets, Claire Bennett would no longer be scolded and forbidden from coming downstairs to attend, nor would she be schemed against and set up again in the Sterling family home.

But all of this had only just begun, and Old Mr. Sterling was already unable to resist stirring up trouble. More importantly, right now he still couldn't go against Old Mr. Sterling, otherwise he would be unable to secure the Sterling family inheritance.

Julian Sterling had never told outsiders about any of this pressure. Even Ruby didn't know what he was thinking. She had only vaguely sensed that he seemed to have some kind of plan, and had still been happily waiting for it to succeed.

After all, in Ruby's eyes, he was powerful enough to do anything.

Ruby quickly noticed that Julian Sterling's expression looked a little bad, and she immediately asked thoughtfully, "Julian, are you troubled by something? If so, tell me. I'll figure out a way to solve it for you!"
