Ch. 552 - What Exactly Is Wrong with Them

Chapter 552

What Exactly Is Wrong with Them

When Claire Bennett heard what the old Mr. Sterling said, she finally understood why he had come here. Maybe he was worried that she would keep clinging to Julian Sterling and refuse to let go.

Her expression changed several times before she finally said firmly, "Grandpa Sterling, I've already made things clear with Julian Sterling. We will separate completely. In the future, when each of us marries someone else, it will have nothing to do with the other. I've already left the Sterling family now, so you don't need to worry about me clinging to Julian Sterling and refusing to let go."

She had originally thought that, now that she had said this much, old Mr. Sterling would leave satisfied.

At worst, she would just go get the divorce certificate with Julian Sterling tomorrow.

Last time, Claire Bennett had thought they were already divorced, but she hadn't expected it was all a misunderstanding. Julian Sterling said they were still husband and wife. She had no idea whether old Mr. Sterling knew about this or not.

But unexpectedly, the more old Mr. Sterling listened, the uglier his expression became, as if she had said something that made him unhappy.

After Claire Bennett finished speaking, she sat stiffly on the sofa. She silently went back over everything she had just said, trying to figure out what had made old Mr. Sterling's expression so "ugly," but it didn't seem like she had said anything wrong.

She had only said that she would separate completely from Julian Sterling and wouldn't keep pestering him.

Wasn't that what old Mr. Sterling wanted? Then why was he sitting there with a dark face now? What exactly was he trying to pull?

Just then, the doorbell to the apartment rang. Claire Bennett looked toward the door, not knowing why it was so lively tonight.

"Sorry, I'll go take a look." After saying that to old Mr. Sterling, she stood up and walked toward the door.

Because old Mr. Sterling was there, Claire Bennett wasn't worried about anything and opened the door directly. To her surprise, Ruby Sterling and Julian Sterling were standing side by side outside.

Julian Sterling was wearing a pure black shirt and black dress pants, his whole person carrying the coolness of the night. Beside him, Ruby Sterling had an anxious look on her face and hurriedly looked into the room. Sure enough, she saw old Mr. Sterling already seated inside Claire Bennett's apartment.

She couldn't help muttering to herself, "They were still one step late. They didn't come too late, did they?"

"Why are you two here?" Claire Bennett asked in surprise.

First old Mr. Sterling, then immediately after that Julian Sterling and Ruby Sterling—what exactly was wrong with them?

Could it be that they had argued over her again, and now had come together to force her to handle the divorce so they could make room for Julian Sterling's future Mrs. Sterling?

At that thought, Claire Bennett's expression darkened, and her emotions became a complicated mix.

When Ruby Sterling saw old Mr. Sterling's sharp, displeased gaze turn toward them, she quickly reached out and pulled Julian Sterling into Claire Bennett's apartment. "This is a bit complicated. We should go inside and talk first."

Five minutes later, Julian Sterling, old Mr. Sterling, and Ruby Sterling were all seated inside Claire Bennett's apartment.

The apartment Claire Bennett rented wasn't very large. After all, she was living by herself now, so she didn't need that much space. But with three people coming in together, it felt a little cramped.

Old Mr. Sterling glared at Julian Sterling and Ruby Sterling irritably, snorting coldly to himself: He had only just arrived, and these two had already chased after him. Were they that afraid he would do something to Claire Bennett?

In the end, Claire Bennett was the one who couldn't stand the strange atmosphere anymore. She spoke up and asked, "You... coming over this late, it's actually to talk to me about the divorce between Julian Sterling and me, right?"

Ruby Sterling hurriedly said, "Claire, no! Actually..."
