Chapter 554
The New Neighbor Who Moved in Across the Hall
After getting off work that evening, Claire Bennett returned to the apartment she had newly rented.
The last time she rented a place, Ava Bennett had sabotaged it. Later, that real estate agency arranged a new apartment for her, one even better than the last one she had looked at and also closer to the hospital.
When she got home and opened her door, she saw people moving things into the apartment across from hers. It looked like someone was about to move in.
A look of surprise appeared in Claire's eyes. She seemed to remember that the apartment across from her had always been empty and unoccupied. Back when she was looking at places, the agent had even let her choose between them.
Later, she felt that the unit she was living in now had better lighting, so she chose this side.
These were all movers, so there was no way to tell whether the person moving in was a man or a woman. Claire looked over a few more times in surprise.
But she quickly reined in her curiosity. After all, in times like these, once people shut their doors, nobody knows anybody. Even if a new neighbor had moved in, it had nothing to do with her.
Claire Bennett turned back around and shut the door.
After she went inside, the elevator doors opened with a "ding," and right after that, a tall figure appeared before them. It was Julian Sterling.
Marcus Reed followed behind Julian Sterling and said respectfully, "Mr. Sterling, all your things have been prepared. Starting today, you can move in."
Who would have thought that Julian Sterling would actually move out of the Sterling family home and into such a small place? It really was too much of a hardship for him. Marcus Reed found it a little unbelievable.
But when he thought about how Claire Bennett was here, and that Julian Sterling was doing all this to win his wife back, it suddenly didn't seem so strange.
Although Julian Sterling and Claire Bennett had parted on bad terms that day, he didn't want to be separated from her for too long, so he made this decision and moved in across from her.
Marcus Reed glanced at the situation inside the apartment, and a helpless look surfaced in his eyes again. He said, "Mr. Sterling, then I'll head back first. If you need anything, just call me."
After Marcus Reed left, Julian Sterling's phone suddenly rang.
It was a call from Ruby Sterling.
He swiped to answer. "What is it?"
"Julian, I heard Claire's been looking for investors lately, but that stepsister of hers has been stirring up trouble in every possible way. She probably hasn't had any good results this whole time. Was it you who personally stepped in to help Claire?"
That day, Julian Sterling had said that he was fine, and he had gotten Old Master Sterling's tacit approval, so no one would interfere in his affairs anymore.
He had told Ruby Sterling to focus on preparing for her wedding banquet and not worry about what was going on between him and Claire Bennett, but Ruby Sterling was not the kind of person who could sit still, so how could she possibly stay out of his business?
Sure enough, after finding out what Julian Sterling had been doing lately, she couldn't sit still and immediately called to fish for information.
Hearing Ruby Sterling's words, Julian Sterling's expression softened a little, and he responded in a low voice, "Mm."
"Wow! That's really great! If Claire finds out, she'll definitely be incredibly touched." Ruby Sterling cried out excitedly, as though she could already see the moment Claire Bennett and Julian Sterling got back together.
Julian Sterling curled his lips slightly. "She still doesn't know about this, and I don't intend to let her know."
"Huh?" Ruby Sterling was dumbfounded. Julian Sterling actually didn't plan to let Claire Bennett know about this? Then why was he doing all this?
She muttered, "I thought after doing something this nice, you'd tell her right away and let her be moved for a bit."
Julian Sterling's eyes flickered slightly. "There's no need to tell her about these things."
