It's Really Too Cheap
Chase Monroe let out a helpless sigh and hurried to soothe her. "Lydia, how could I possibly still be in contact with her? You're the only one in my heart now. I don't think anything of someone like her at all. How could that kind of poor loser compare to you?"
To curry favor with Lydia West, this spoiled rich girl, Chase Monroe immediately belittled Ruby Sterling until she was worth absolutely nothing.
He had completely forgotten how low he'd humbled himself when he used to pursue Ruby Sterling.
He knew Lydia West cared a great deal about Ruby Sterling, and he had to coax her properly, or this matter probably wouldn't blow over so easily.
It hadn't been easy for Chase Monroe to latch onto Lydia West, and now that the two of them had made it all the way to marriage, he had put in quite a bit of effort.
She had said that once he married Lydia West, they would arrange for him to enter the family company as a manager. Just thinking about it made Chase Monroe feel smug inside.
Back then, when Ruby Sterling said she'd arrange for him to work at Sterling Group, he had thought Ruby Sterling really had some pull and could help him rise to the top.
Who would've thought that after entering Sterling Group, he would only be an ordinary employee!
Later, through his own efforts, he successfully rose to his current position as a department supervisor.
And Ruby Sterling had even acted like she'd done him some huge favor and expected him to fawn over her in gratitude. It was utterly laughable!
Luckily, he had now met Lydia West. As long as he went to West Group in the future, he wouldn't have to stay at Sterling Group feeling stifled anymore. So now he had to work hard to please Lydia West and strive to get out of Sterling Group as soon as possible.
After hearing all of Chase Monroe's flattery, Lydia West's mood finally improved a little.
She looked at Ruby Sterling with contempt and said, "At least you know what's what."
After saying that, Lydia West suddenly let out a cold laugh and said, "Back then you said Ruby Sterling arranged for you to work at Sterling Group, but who would've thought she only got you an ordinary employee position? That's really too cheap. She couldn't actually think that just because her last name is Sterling, she really has something to do with the Sterling family, could she?"
"I'm different. Once you join West Group, I'll have Dad make you a manager. Wouldn't that be way better than your job at Sterling Group?"
When Chase Monroe heard Lydia West's words, his eyes instantly lit up.
Before this, Lydia's father had never given a definite promise and had only said they'd talk after the marriage. But from what Lydia West was saying now, it sounded like everything had already been arranged, so he didn't need to worry anymore.
Although Sterling Group looked prestigious and was many times better than West Group, he had always been suppressed there and had no chance to stand out.
He might as well jump ship straight to West Group. Then, with his father-in-law backing him up, he would definitely do far better than he was now, struggling away at Sterling Group.
When Ruby Sterling heard Lydia West's words, she only found them unbelievably funny.

Originally, she had wanted to arrange for him to be a manager, but her older brother said they should give Chase Monroe a test first. If he could pass it, then they could promote him later.

While Lydia West and Ruby Sterling had been talking just now, Emma Young had been standing off to the side listening the whole time. When she heard Lydia West mocking Ruby Sterling, she felt astonished.
She said Ruby Sterling thought that just because her last name was Sterling, she was really part of the Sterling family.
Could it be... they didn't know Ruby Sterling was the Sterling family's daughter?
