Ch. 582 - Megan Sterling Poisoned Him

Chapter 582

Megan Sterling Poisoned Him

Claire Bennett said neither humbly nor arrogantly, "We're exactly what you see—we get along very well."

Old Mr. Sterling had also guessed the situation between the two of them. Now that Julian Sterling was living outside with Claire Bennett, it felt like he was practically so happy he didn't want to go home. Old Mr. Sterling was afraid that if he kept staying out there, he wouldn't want to come back at all.

So he wanted Julian Sterling to move back.

Of course, the key to getting Julian Sterling to come back was definitely Claire Bennett. If Claire Bennett was willing to come back, then Julian Sterling would certainly be willing to come back too!

Old Mr. Sterling said, "If I asked you to move back to the Sterling estate, would you be willing?"

Claire Bennett's eyes flickered, and she remembered what had happened before.

"Grandpa, I'm not pregnant right now, and I don't need to move to the Sterling family home for you all to take care of me."

Old Mr. Sterling's expression stiffened, feeling that Claire Bennett was mocking him.

He let out a cold huff and said, "Who said you were pregnant? I'm telling you and Julian to move back. If you're not at the Sterling family home, Julian won't be willing to come back either."

Claire Bennett suddenly understood. So Old Mr. Sterling was doing this for Julian Sterling.

She felt that Julian Sterling had been right—Old Mr. Sterling really had changed quite a bit. His attitude toward her had become much more even-tempered. Although he wasn't as kind and amiable as Old Mrs. Sterling, he was already being very friendly.

Still, if Old Mr. Sterling were truly kind and amiable to her, she might not be used to it.

Claire Bennett lowered her eyes, thought it over carefully, and said, "I'll think about it first."

Old Mr. Sterling had thought that if he made the request, Claire Bennett would definitely agree, but he hadn't expected that she would actually say she needed to think about it first. His face darkened, and he said unhappily, "What is there for you to think about!"

He had already pleaded with her like this—could Claire Bennett really be this stubborn? Or was she still holding a grudge over what had happened before?

When Claire Bennett saw Old Mr. Sterling's expression, she knew he had misunderstood what she meant.

She quickly explained, "The Sterling estate is pretty out of the way. The work I'm handling has only just started, and going back and forth to the company every day would be pretty exhausting. Once things at work are a little more stable, Julian Sterling and I will move back."

The Sterling estate sat on prime feng shui land in New York, and the surroundings were extremely nice, but comparatively speaking it was also far from the busy urban area, especially a bit far from the business district—not as convenient as the small place they're living in now.

Hearing Claire Bennett's words, the tightly furrowed brows of Old Mr. Sterling gradually relaxed.

He picked up his teacup and took a sip of tea.

Realizing it wasn't the tea he usually drank, he gave it a suspicious glance. Just as he was about to say something, he suddenly felt his hands and feet go numb. His tongue seemed to cramp up, and he couldn't even speak.

Old Mr. Sterling's hand holding the teacup trembled nonstop, and the cup suddenly fell to the floor with a sharp clatter.

Seeing Old Mr. Sterling's condition, Claire Bennett hurriedly stood up and went over to check on him. "Grandpa, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell somewhere?"

Old Mr. Sterling clutched his chest, unable to speak, his whole body stiff as a block of wood.

In the end, he suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood, then completely passed out!

Claire Bennett turned deathly pale with shock and could only immediately go out to get Julian Sterling.

Old Mr. Sterling was rushed to the hospital.

After a round of emergency treatment, the doctor came out of the ER and said to Julian Sterling, "Old Mr. Sterling's condition has stabilized. For the time being, his life is not in danger, it's just..."

Hearing his "it's just," everyone's mood immediately grew heavy. Old Mrs. Sterling quickly stepped forward, grabbed the doctor's hand, and asked, "Doctor, what is it? Is there some other issue?"

The doctor nodded lightly and answered truthfully, "It's just that because the old gentleman was poisoned, his body is relatively weak. He still hasn't woken up yet and needs careful care. Please pay close attention to his condition."

Hearing the doctor's words, everyone froze in place.

What had the doctor just said?

Poisoned?

Old Mr. Sterling had suddenly coughed up blood and fainted because he had been poisoned??
