You Still Haven't Paid

Claire Bennett had been watching them pick gowns with a cold eye the whole time. Only after the clerk had written up the rental slip did she smile faintly and say, "Finished choosing?"

The two women carried the bags in their hands and swept a contemptuous glance over Claire Bennett.

"Of course we're finished. These are this year's new styles, so don't be too jealous."

"The clerk just said the newest styles are these two in our hands. Everything else is old. You can stay behind and take your time picking."

Naomi Pierce burst into smug laughter when she heard that.

Claire Bennett hadn't accepted the gown she offered today, but now wasn't she still stuck choosing old, outdated styles?

With a lofty expression, she said to the two women, "Let's not hold up Claire Bennett from choosing her gown, or once she sees your styles, she won't think any of the others are good enough."

"Assistant Pierce is right. Then let's go."

The three of them picked up their bags and were just about to leave.

"Hold it." Claire Bennett spoke casually, a faint smile curling at her lips, and said, "You still haven't paid, and you're just leaving?"

Naomi Pierce frowned tightly when she heard Claire Bennett's words.

Luna Brooks and Meng Lifen beside her were even more impatient to jump out, shouting angrily, "Claire Bennett, what nonsense are you talking about? The store manager just said she'd cover all our expenses. Are you deaf?"

"Don't tell me you don't get that kind of treatment, so you're jealous of us?"

An ordinary gown would already cost them half a month's salary. The two they had rented now had won international awards and were designed by Vivian Yu Styling's senior designer, so there was no need to mention the price.

If they really had to pay for them, it would be no different from asking for their lives. Even if you sold them, they couldn't afford it.

The reason Claire Bennett had stopped Ruby Sterling from making a scene earlier was because she had been waiting for this moment.

Claire Bennett said to Ruby Sterling behind her, "Ruby, call Vivian Yu Styling's owner and tell her two people rented gowns and won't pay."

"What did you say!" The two women widened their eyes.

Ruby Sterling had been holding it in for so long, and now she could finally let off steam. Without another word, she immediately took out her phone and dialed Vivian Yu's number.

The call connected very quickly.

A brisk female voice came through. "Miss Sterling, have you and your friend finished picking out your gowns? If you didn't find anything satisfactory, I still have a few private pieces in my collection. Last time someone wanted to buy them, and I couldn't bear to sell them."

Ruby Sterling let out a cold laugh and said in a mocking tone, "Picking gowns? We got bitten by rabid dogs, so how would we be in the mood to pick gowns? Your shop really has a wide range of business. It even doubles as a pet store."

"What?" Vivian Yu's voice turned tense.

"Come over and see for yourself."

After Ruby Sterling said that, she ended the call.

The people in the shop looked at one another, unsure whether she really knew the owner and had called her, or whether she was just putting on an act to scare them.

The store manager especially had an ominous feeling in her heart.

Could it be that these two plainly dressed women were actually today's VIP guests? Had she buttered up the wrong people?

The more she thought about it, the paler her face became, and she started to panic completely.

Ten minutes later, Vivian Yu, the owner of Vivian Yu Styling Studio, pushed open the door and walked in with an anxious expression. "What happened?"

When the store manager saw the owner come in person, her heart skipped a beat.

She was done for!

She really had sucked up to the wrong person. The one she was supposed to be warmly receiving today wasn't Naomi Pierce, but those other two women!

The store manager immediately stepped forward and recounted how Claire Bennett had offended Naomi Pierce just now.

After hearing it, Vivian Yu's face darkened, and she shot the store manager a glare. Who told her to make decisions on her own?

Without even glancing at Naomi Pierce, she hurried over to Ruby Sterling and Claire Bennett. "I'm sorry. The staff here didn't understand what mattered. I'll dock their bonuses."

Ruby Sterling glanced at Claire Bennett and asked, "Claire, what do you think?"

Claire Bennett looked at the three of them and said evenly, "Just now these two rented gowns and jewelry and still haven't paid. You should collect the money first."

Vivian Yu said to the store manager, "Why aren't you collecting the money already!"

Knowing she had done something wrong, the store manager didn't dare delay any longer. She went straight up to Luna Brooks and Meng Lifen and said, "Ladies, you just rented our signature treasures. The rental for those two gowns is one hundred thousand dollars per day."

The two women's eyes practically bulged out, and they nearly coughed up blood.

They shrieked, "One hundred thousand a day! Is this robbery?"

The store manager smiled and said, "These two gowns are inlaid with crystal and diamonds. Each one is worth six million US dollars. I haven't even included the price of the jewelry you're wearing yet. Oh, right... and there's also the deposit..."
