The Surprise Julian Sterling Prepared

Claire Bennett gently shook her head. "It's nothing... I just..."

Out of the corner of her eye, she glanced at Grandpa Sterling, and the meaning was self-evident.

Julian Sterling immediately understood. In a low voice, he said to Old Mr. Sterling, "Grandpa, Claire just got out not long ago, and she helped you catch the person behind all this. She must be exhausted. I'll take her home first and come see you again tomorrow."

Something like this had happened in the Sterling family, and Old Mr. Sterling was not in a good mood. He had no leisure to deal with Claire Bennett either.

"Fine. You two go back."

"Grandpa Sterling, we'll... come see you again tomorrow." Claire Bennett spoke softly before leaving.

Old Mr. Sterling hadn't even spoken yet when Julian Sterling promptly took Claire Bennett by the hand and led her away, catching him off guard for a moment.

By the time they had completely disappeared, he snorted and said, "That brat! Running off so fast—what, was he afraid I'd eat his wife or something!"

Julian Sterling tucked Claire Bennett into the car, then returned to the driver's seat and started it.

They went back to the apartment.

The two of them entered one after the other.

Back in familiar surroundings, Claire Bennett finally relaxed. She sat down on the sofa, feeling utterly exhausted.

What Megan Sterling had done had really been beyond her expectations.

Julian Sterling sat down beside her. He stretched out his strong arm and pulled Claire Bennett into his embrace in one motion. "Megan Sterling is usually cautious and timid. It's not likely she'd do something like this. How did she suddenly decide to go all in?"

"Someone egged her on?"

Julian Sterling suddenly asked, "Back at Grandpa's place, was there something you didn't say?"

Claire Bennett glanced at him. "There were indeed some things that weren't suitable to say in front of Grandpa Sterling. I keep feeling that his poisoning wasn't that simple. Ethan Sterling probably can't be separated from this matter."

Although Ethan Sterling had seized Sterling Group in the chaos, they had never connected him to the poisoning before. But after what happened to Megan Sterling, Claire had no choice but to become suspicious.

Julian Sterling had already guessed the second half of what she was going to say from the first half.

A mocking curve lifted at the corner of his lips.

Heh, Ethan Sterling...

Julian Sterling's gaze darkened, sharp killing intent showing through. "Mm. Ethan Sterling is definitely connected to this."

Claire Bennett had never expected Megan Sterling to join forces with Ethan Sterling. She had dated Ethan Sterling for several years and knew what kind of person he was. He had brains and methods, but stabbing people in the back was second nature to him. Working with him was strictly one-time use.

Afterward, he would definitely spare no effort to wipe out any existence that might pose a threat to him.

Just from the way he had managed to pull himself out clean after Megan Sterling's affair blew up, it was obvious the matter was anything but simple.

Claire Bennett said, "Megan Sterling wants you, Ethan Sterling wants the company. One wants the person, the other wants power. The two of them hit it off immediately. No wonder this happened so suddenly, and was arranged so meticulously."

Julian Sterling raised his brows. "I didn't expect Megan Sterling to have thoughts like that either."

After saying that, he distractedly reached down and rubbed Claire Bennett's knee.

She had probably been chilled badly in detention these past few days. If not for the arrangements that had to follow, if not for the need to avoid alerting the enemy, he would never have had the heart to let Claire Bennett suffer.

Claire Bennett frowned. "But we don't have any evidence, and now Ethan Sterling has already taken over Sterling Group. You don't really have any ability to deal with him right now, do you?"

She felt Ethan Sterling couldn't possibly be uninvolved, but she didn't dare act rashly.

Because with Julian Sterling's current situation, he could barely protect himself.

Julian Sterling couldn't help laughing. He hadn't expected Claire Bennett to think he truly had nothing left.
