Julian Sterling Gives Claire Bennett a Future (Continued)
Ethan Sterling used to be afraid of Julian Sterling, but now he wasn't afraid of him at all. He immediately went to Julian Sterling's company. The company was still hiring at the moment, and aside from Marcus Reed, there weren't many other people there.
When Marcus Reed saw Ethan Sterling, he immediately stood up to stop him. "Ethan Sterling, if you want to see President Sterling, you need an appointment."
Back when Ethan Sterling was in Chicago, Marcus Reed had stopped him plenty of times. Now, seeing that he still dared to block him, Ethan Sterling's face quickly darkened, and he gritted his teeth in fury. "Are you blind? How dare you stop me? Don't you know what my status is now?"
After saying that, Ethan Sterling shoved Marcus Reed aside and strode toward the office inside.
Ethan Sterling forcefully pushed open the office door. Julian Sterling was focused on typing on his computer. Only after hearing the noise did he lazily lift his head and look toward Ethan Sterling at the doorway.
He stood at the door with a dark expression on his face.
Marcus Reed had already caught up and said helplessly, "President Sterling, we couldn't stop him just now."
"It's fine. You can go back out first," Julian Sterling said to Marcus Reed. After Marcus Reed left, he looked at Ethan Sterling and asked, "Ethan Sterling, did you come to Sterling International for something?"
Ethan Sterling thought about how Julian Sterling had snatched away his two big deals lately, and he hated him so much his teeth were grinding.
He asked darkly, "Did you steal my business? Was Mr. Xu changing his mind your doing?"
Hearing Ethan Sterling's words, Julian Sterling couldn't help laughing.
He said casually, "Isn't stealing business perfectly normal? Mr. Xu thought I was more worth investing in, so he chose to work with me instead. If you're not as capable, what else is there to say?"
"You!" Ethan Sterling's face turned black.
Ethan Sterling gritted his teeth and said, "Mr. Xu had already agreed to work with me. You must've used some kind of trick to make him change his mind. Give this deal back to me!" Ethan Sterling shouted emotionally.
Julian Sterling seemed to have run out of patience. He said coldly, "Ethan Sterling, who told you that you could come onto someone else's turf and demand they give a deal back to you? I'm not your daddy. I don't need to revolve around you. If there's nothing else, the door's to your left."
After saying that, he pressed the intercom and told Marcus Reed to come in and see the guest out.
Marcus Reed came in very quickly and said to Ethan Sterling, "Mr. Ethan Sterling, please leave."
Ethan Sterling looked at Julian Sterling with dark eyes. This deal with Mr. Xu was extremely important to Sterling Group. He had begged Thomas Sterling for a long time before Thomas Sterling finally handed this partnership to him. Later, when he secured the deal, he had been thrilled, thinking he was finally going to have his moment in the spotlight.
Who would've thought that in the blink of an eye, Julian Sterling would snatch it away? How could that not infuriate him?
Ethan Sterling forcibly suppressed his anger. In the end, he said nothing and turned to leave.
After Ethan Sterling left, Julian Sterling watched his retreating figure, a trace of coldness surfacing in his eyes.
He had not simply let go of what happened with Grandpa's poisoning before. Although Megan Sterling had already admitted her fault, he knew Megan Sterling was not the only culprit. Ethan Sterling might have been involved too.
It was just that Ethan Sterling had cleaned up his tracks very thoroughly, and right now Julian Sterling had no way to do anything to him.
He had thought of an excellent method: to break apart Ethan Sterling and Thomas Sterling from within. That way, perhaps without him doing anything else, the two of them would still end up clashing and turning on each other.
Claire Bennett came over after hearing about it. "Was Ethan Sterling just here looking for you? You're okay, right?"
Julian Sterling shook his head and said disdainfully, "I don't even take him seriously."
Then he smiled and said, "What? Were you afraid I'd get bullied?"
Claire Bennett didn't speak. She really had been afraid Julian Sterling would get bullied. The Julian Sterling from before had seemed very capable, so she hadn't worried about him. But now he always gave her a feeling of being very weak.
Julian Sterling seemed to see what Claire Bennett was thinking. He narrowed his eyes and said, "You think I'm weak?"
Claire Bennett immediately shook her head, afraid of hurting his self-esteem.
Suddenly, Julian Sterling laughed. He wasn't angry. He merely stepped forward and pulled Claire Bennett into his arms, lowered his head to her ear, and whispered, "Looks like Claire has some misunderstandings about me. Whether I'm weak or not, tonight I'll have to give you a proper hands-on demonstration."
Claire Bennett's cheeks instantly flushed red, and she felt that his skin was really far too thick.
"Stop fooling around."
Julian Sterling looked completely serious as he said, "Even though the company is just getting started now, I still can't neglect your happiness."
Claire Bennett felt she couldn't keep talking about this with him, or things would very likely get more and more out of bounds.
She hurriedly changed the subject and said, "Maison Verne has already started up again, but the brand still doesn't have much name recognition. At the very least, it doesn't have any brand influence in New York. If we want to promote it better, we may need to find some backing. I might be a little busier these next few days."
