Chapter 611
Successfully Won the Bid for the Storefront
Very soon, the bidding for the retail spaces began.
Just as Claire Bennett had guessed, the storefronts in prime front-facing locations drew a huge number of bidders, while the units tucked away in the corners, because of their location, didn't have nearly as much competition. Even so, quite a few people with tighter budgets were still interested in bidding on them.
This was, after all, the central district, where every inch of land was worth a fortune. Even a spot like that was still a hard storefront to get.
The storefront Claire Bennett had her eye on wasn't exactly in a corner, so there were quite a few competitors for it too. Seeing bid after bid being raised, each one higher than the last, Molly Lee couldn't help getting nervous.
She had originally thought that by choosing a location like this, they would be able to avoid a lot of the competition. She hadn't expected there would still be so many rivals. She had no idea whether they could actually succeed next.
Claire Bennett gave Molly Lee a reassuring look, signaling for her not to worry.
Only then did Molly Lee let out a breath of relief, thinking that since Claire Bennett seemed so confident, there probably wouldn't be any problem.
Not far away, Olivia Lawson leaned close to Ava Bennett's ear and said in a low voice, "Manager Song, Claire Bennett went over there to bid on the low-priced storefronts."
Hearing that, Ava Bennett looked over toward Claire Bennett.
When she saw Claire Bennett and Molly Lee walk into the low-price area, mockery flashed across her eyes.
She knew it. Claire Bennett was so down-and-out now, and after leaving Bennett Group, where would she get the money to buy a storefront? Of course she could only bid on a place like that. Those storefronts were all tucked away in corner spots. People who came into the shopping mall usually wouldn't even glance at them. Opening a store there was basically just waiting to go under!
Ava Bennett calmly withdrew her gaze, not taking Claire Bennett seriously at all.
At that moment, Claire Bennett was staring intently at the auction staff. The bidding process was that the staff would first display the reserve price for the storefront, and then the participating brands would bid on it, with the highest bidder winning.
Everyone gave it their all in the auction, and the atmosphere at the scene was tense and heavy.
Next, the auction staff displayed the reserve price, and the bidding began.
Quite a few people immediately raised their paddles to bid, and the other businesses quickly followed suit. The atmosphere was heated and fierce. After several rounds, the bidding gradually neared its end. As the price of the storefront climbed higher and higher, many brands felt it wasn't worth it and gradually dropped out of the bidding.
Claire Bennett hadn't made a bid from the very beginning, because she knew there were still plenty of people competing, and bidding too early wouldn't do any good.
When only two brands were left bidding against each other, a sharp look appeared in her eyes. Her chance had come!
The two remaining competitors were both fairly capable. One of them gradually gained the upper hand, and after his final bid, the other side didn't raise again. Judging from the ugly look on his face, he clearly wasn't planning to keep going. A smug expression appeared on that brand representative's face, convinced that this storefront was about to fall into his hands.
Unexpectedly, just as the staff member was about to announce the successful bid, someone suddenly made another offer.
He immediately turned his head to see who had stolen his storefront.
Claire Bennett sat calmly in her seat, her face utterly unruffled. Under the staff member's urging, that brand representative immediately raised the paddle in his hand and increased the bid.
After a few more rounds of bidding, the price had already far exceeded the storefront's value, and that brand representative began to back down.
For a location like this, winning the storefront at that price really wasn't a very worthwhile deal. If the customer traffic later failed to meet expectations, there was a very good chance he would lose money.
He glanced at Claire Bennett again, then finally gave up on the idea of taking the storefront. He wanted to see just how this woman was going to make that shop work. She was definitely just waiting for it to shut down.
In the end, Claire Bennett won the corner storefront with an absolute advantage. Molly Lee smiled and said to Claire Bennett, "Boss, we did it!"
