Chapter 614
Clinging to Julian Sterling's Thigh
By the time Claire Bennett returned to the private room, quite a few people could tell that her expression didn't look too good.
Julian Sterling asked with concern, "What's wrong? What happened?"
Claire Bennett had been perfectly fine before she went out to take that call just now, and now that she was back, she looked all worried and troubled. It had to be because of that phone call.
Claire Bennett sighed and said, "It's about that storefront."
"Didn't I successfully win the bid for that storefront today? Just now, the person in charge called me and told me that someone has taken a liking to my storefront."
"What!" Molly Lee's eyes widened in shock as she said, "Boss, didn't we already sign the contract? If they cancel it, wouldn't that be a breach of contract?"
Hearing that, Claire Bennett couldn't help letting out a bitter laugh.
"They're now willing to breach the contract rather than give me the storefront. I've already gotten pretty much everything else ready, and now without the storefront, everything has to start all over again. It'll waste a lot of time and manpower."
Most importantly, she'd been so happy before about successfully bidding on a storefront, but before their celebration had even ended, a problem had already come up. That feeling of falling from heaven straight into hell really did feel awful.
Julian Sterling's brows knitted tightly together as he asked, "Which mall was the one where you won the bid for the storefront?"
Claire Bennett knew he was planning to step in and help, but she had already looked into it long ago. The shareholder behind that mall was a foreigner, someone who simply couldn't be bought off, so that was probably why Ava Bennett had used money to make all of this happen.
She said sullenly, "That mall is Prosper Center. The owner behind it is a foreigner. You probably don't know him, right?"
Julian Sterling really didn't know him, but he did know that Prosper Center was in the process of being developed.
Seeing Claire Bennett looking so downcast, Julian Sterling said, "Claire, don't worry. Leave this matter to me. I'll help you figure something out."
Originally, Claire Bennett had wanted to rely on her own abilities, but she hadn't expected that in the end she would still have to depend on Julian Sterling.
A guilty look appeared in her eyes as she said, "Julian Sterling, sorry. I'm making you worry over me again."
Hearing Claire Bennett's words, Julian Sterling said, "Why are you saying something so silly? We're husband and wife. We should support and help each other. I should've been helping with this in the first place. Since I didn't help and it led to you running into problems, I'm the one who should reflect on myself."
Claire Bennett hadn't expected Julian Sterling to be so good with words. She was practically moved to death!
But because of that, she also accepted Julian Sterling's help with even more peace of mind.
She asked curiously, "Julian Sterling, how are you planning to help? There probably isn't any backdoor route with that mall. You're not going to use some kind of underhanded means, are you?"
Actually, she was also a little worried that in order to help her, Julian Sterling might sacrifice himself to do something. That wasn't something she wanted to see; the loss would outweigh the gain.
Julian Sterling had thought of a solution. He gently curled his lips and said, "I really don't know the people at Prosper Center..."
Before Claire Bennett could speak, Julian Sterling continued, "But I do know the people at the mall next to Prosper Center. I can get you the best storefront in the mall next door. It definitely won't be any worse than the one you had at Prosper Center."
The mall next door?
Before Claire Bennett had time to feel puzzled, Molly Lee suddenly cried out, "President Lu, the mall next door you're talking about—could it be Harbor Point Mall?!"
Julian Sterling nodded lightly. "Yes, that's right."
Claire Bennett looked at Molly Lee in confusion, apparently not very familiar with Harbor Point Mall.
Molly Lee had long since been unable to contain her excitement. She said excitedly, "Boss! We're about to get lucky this time. Do you know about Harbor Point Mall next door? It's twice the size of Prosper Center. Do you know why Prosper Center started recruiting tenants before it was even finished being built this time?"
Claire Bennett hadn't expected there to be circumstances like this behind it, and a look of surprise appeared in her eyes.
Molly Lee continued, "That's because if Harbor Point Mall gets built in the future, then it might steal Prosper Center's customer traffic, so they want to hurry up and seize the market first."
