Chapter 625
Julian Sterling Is Looked Down On (Continued)
In fact, he didn't care about these people's looks at all. If anything, he thought things were a lot quieter now than before.
What he cared about more was what Claire Bennett had just called him.
"Just now, in front of all those people, you called me husband."
Julian Sterling could barely keep the corners of his mouth from turning up.
Claire Bennett paused, then belatedly said, "What? Did I call you husband just now?"
Julian Sterling wrapped an arm around her. "You did. So many people heard it. Honey, the way you fiercely defended your husband just now was gorgeous."
Blushing, Claire Bennett shot him an annoyed glare and smacked the back of his improper hand.
"Behave yourself. I just blurted it out in the heat of the moment without noticing."
"Now that our relationship is public, will it have any effect on the company?"
Julian Sterling put on an aggrieved look.
"What, is the company more important than me?"
"Even if you regret it now, it's too late."
Claire Bennett looked at him speechlessly.
She'd never realized before that Julian Sterling had such a clingy side.
"I'm not regretting it. Your new company has only just started up. I'm just worried I'll hold you back."
"Anyway, you're already mine."
The two of them were lovey-dovey downstairs, and the atmosphere gradually turned sweet.
Ethan Sterling had thought he would see the two of them start arguing, which would give him the perfect chance to go comfort Claire Bennett.
She looked so beautiful today; whether it was the gown or the jewelry, everything suited her perfectly.
How had he never realized before that Claire Bennett could be this beautiful? The regret inside Ethan Sterling kept swelling bigger and bigger.
Ava Bennett hurried over to the cocktail party too after changing into another gown. When Victor Bennett saw how flustered she looked, he felt somewhat displeased.
Now that Hannah Bennett was the mistress of the Bennett family, of course she had come to the cocktail party with Victor Bennett as well.
The moment she saw her daughter appear, she quickly waved her over.
"Ava, over here."
Victor Bennett kept a stern face. "You're part of the company's senior management now. How are you still this lacking in composure?"
Compared with his eldest daughter, Ava was still lacking in the end.
He only thought that to himself and didn't say it in front of the mother and daughter.
Seeing this, Hannah Bennett hurriedly put in a good word for her daughter.
"Ava is usually very steady. There must have been traffic or some accident on the way."
"She isn't late. Isn't it fine as long as she made it?"
Today's cocktail party was a major occasion, and Victor Bennett didn't want to argue too much with the mother and daughter. If things got noisy, he'd be the one losing face.
He took his wineglass elsewhere to greet people and didn't say anything about taking Ava Bennett along with him.
Hannah Bennett had long since spotted Ethan Sterling and had been keeping an eye on him for her daughter the whole time.
"Ava, come here quickly. Ethan Sterling is right over there."
"You have to seize this opportunity. Whether the two of us, mother and daughter, can truly gain a firm foothold in the Bennett family depends on you."
Ava Bennett nodded.
She had seen Ethan Sterling a few times before. If she remembered correctly, he seemed to be that little bitch Claire Bennett's ex-boyfriend, the one who later cheated on her and dumped her.
Before, she had looked down on this kind of man too, but now it was different. Ethan Sterling was the Sterling family's new heir. How could his status be the same as before?
Besides, the reason Claire Bennett got cheated on back then was because she was useless herself, couldn't even keep hold of a man. Ava was different.
Ava Bennett smiled confidently.
"Mom, don't worry. I'm not like that loser Claire Bennett. I can handle a man just fine."
"Just wait for my good news."
Even standing far away, Ethan Sterling was getting stuffed full of PDA from Claire Bennett and Julian Sterling, and he was in an awful mood. He picked up a wineglass and drank by himself off to the side, not wanting to bother with anyone.
Now he was the Sterling family's heir. Who in the capital would still dare look down on him?
But after the alcohol went down, not only did it fail to ease the unhappiness in his heart, it made him feel even worse.
Claire Bennett—what was she, really?
There were plenty of women in the world, and plenty who were prettier and had better judgment than her.
Ava Bennett also picked up a glass of champagne from a passing server and swayed over to Ethan Sterling with a seductive gait.
"Hello, Young Master Ethan."
Ethan Sterling knew someone had come over to flirt with him. Too lazy to pay attention, he didn't even turn his head, much less look at Ava Bennett.
Unexpectedly, Ava Bennett was especially patient in this regard. She gave a light laugh and followed Ethan Sterling's gaze toward the two people downstairs.
When she saw Claire Bennett, the jealousy in her eyes flashed by for an instant, then was quickly hidden away.
"My sister's taste is really awful."
"How could Julian Sterling compare to even a tenth of Young Master Ethan? Maybe before she broke up with Young Master Ethan, she was already fooling around with Julian Sterling."
"Otherwise, how could she have gotten married so fast?"
Ethan Sterling's hand tightened around the wineglass almost imperceptibly. Although he didn't respond to Ava Bennett right away, he had taken her words in.
"You're also a daughter of the Bennett family?"
Seeing that he was finally willing to speak to her, Ava Bennett thought she had a shot and deliberately leaned closer toward him.
"That's right."
Ethan Sterling did know of Ava Bennett's existence, but he hadn't had much impression of her. He turned his head to take a look.
