One Shameless, One Brainless (Continued)

Ava Bennett began to cry and said through sobs, "Ethan, have you forgotten about us? Last night in bed, you were still saying you really liked me. How can you treat me like this?"

Claire Bennett listened to Ava Bennett's words and arched a brow slightly.

So these two had already ended up in bed together, huh. And they still said there was nothing going on between them, as if she were an idiot.

She sneered, "Ethan Sterling, it seems you're not very clear on what does or doesn't count as dating. I think you'd better go figure that out before coming back."

At that moment, a car slowly pulled up in front of Claire Bennett. Julian Sterling had arrived.

When Claire Bennett saw Julian Sterling appear, a smile showed in her eyes and brows. She stepped forward, opened the car door, and got in, but before leaving she paused again, looked at Ethan Sterling, and said, "Actually, I think you two are a pretty good match."

One shameless, one brainless. They were practically a match made in heaven!

The car drove steadily down the road. Julian Sterling turned to look at Claire Bennett and asked, "That shameless thing came to bother you again?"

Just now, when Julian Sterling saw Ethan Sterling pestering Claire Bennett, he hadn't hurried to get out of the car, because he hadn't taken Ethan Sterling seriously at all. He also had complete confidence in Claire Bennett and didn't think she would ever get together with Ethan Sterling.

They had gone through so many hardships together. He still had at least this much trust in Claire Bennett.

Claire Bennett said helplessly, "Yeah. He came with Ava Bennett. Ava Bennett even made a huge scene at the runway show today and almost caused our show to get canceled. Later she was thrown out. The two of them really are... something else."

At that point, Claire Bennett suddenly felt that Julian Sterling was being a little too calm. She asked in confusion, "Hey, Julian Sterling, how come you don't have any reaction at all? Aren't you afraid someone might seduce me away?"

Julian Sterling laughed when he heard that. "Nope."

Before Claire Bennett could say anything, he continued, "At worst, if you run off, I'll run off with you."

Claire Bennett was completely stunned.

If that were the case, then wouldn't whoever chased her be getting a buy-one-get-one deal—supporting her while also supporting Julian Sterling, this "pretty boy"?

Just imagining it made Claire Bennett think the scene was hilarious. Still, the fact that Julian Sterling had now become like this was something she had never expected at all.

Where had his cool factor gone?

He hadn't been like this before. He had obviously been aloof and abstinent.

Claire Bennett huffed, "Julian Sterling, you've changed."

"Hm?" Julian Sterling rested one hand on the steering wheel and glanced sideways at Claire Bennett, seeming very puzzled by her accusation.

"You never used to be like this."

If someone had thrown Julian Sterling a check, he probably wouldn't even have glanced at it, much less anything else.

So talk about running off with her shouldn't have been something he would say either.

Julian Sterling curled his lips into a faint smile and said unhurriedly, "People always change. Besides... what's wrong with the husband following the wife's lead?"

Claire Bennett didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Was that really how that phrase was supposed to be used?

Julian Sterling asked, "What do you want to eat tonight?"

Claire Bennett thought about it and felt that since Old Master Sterling and Old Madam Sterling were still at home, it wouldn't be very nice for the two of them to go out to eat alone. Now her relationship with Old Master Sterling was no longer like it had been before, so she was also very attentive toward him.

Ever since Old Master Sterling had stepped up to back her up before, Claire Bennett's opinion of him had improved even more.

After thinking it over, she said, "Let's buy groceries and go home to cook for ourselves. I've been busy with work this whole time and haven't cooked in a long while."

Julian Sterling turned the wheel and headed toward the market.

Claire Bennett felt that this was a good start.

After the show, she took three days off to properly stay home and spend some time with Old Master Sterling and Old Madam Sterling, so much so that the two of them thought her career must not be going well now, which was why she was staying at home.
