Chapter 655

Have You Done Right by Us? (Continued)

Hearing Molly Lee's words, Asher Bell looked embarrassed, and could only step forward and help clean up with her.

The two of them busied themselves for quite a while. In the end, Asher swept the floor and Molly mopped, and only then did they collapse onto the couch together from exhaustion. Looking at the neat, spotless apartment, Asher felt his mood improve quite a bit.

Asher thought of how hardworking Molly had been just now, helping him clean up. It seemed like she hadn't said a single word of complaint.

At that moment, Molly stood up and opened Asher's refrigerator. "Do you have anything to eat in here?"

After working all day, she was completely exhausted. She hadn't even eaten dinner before rushing over, all because of Asher's mess of problems.

Asher nodded. "I bought some stuff last time and put it in the fridge. There should still be some left."

"Alright, I'm going to cook now. Just wait here for a bit." After Molly said that, she carried the ingredients toward the kitchen.

Asher watched Molly's busy figure in the kitchen and thought of what she had just said.

It was true that for today's new product, both he and everyone at Manzhen had put a tremendous amount of effort into it. If the new product failed because of him alone, he would feel terribly guilty.

He couldn't be that selfish.

Asher gradually worked up his courage and forced down all the emotions in his heart.

Molly quickly made a simple meal and brought it out. She opened a bottle of beer, set it in front of Asher, and said, "Designer An, I know you feel awful. Whatever's making you unhappy, tell me all of it. I can be your trash can and listen to everything that's bothering you."

Warmth stirred faintly in Asher's heart. He wasn't much of a drinker, but right now he truly felt too suffocated.

Molly's suggestion made him feel like he had an outlet. Knowing that someone was willing to listen to what he was going through made him very happy.

He really needed someone to listen to the pain in his heart.

Asher grabbed the beer Molly handed him and tilted his head back, taking a hard swig.

Then he began to speak in a muffled voice. "I met my girlfriend in college. She was the one who pursued me first, and then we got together. Back in college, she said she admired my design talent and thought I was definitely going to make something of myself someday..."

"But later, she started looking down on me for not being ambitious enough. I was already working incredibly hard on my designs. I just never expected her to be lured away by another man, and to even take my designs and give them to him."

Asher's eyes reddened, and he took another hard swig of beer before blaming himself. "It's also my fault for not being capable at all, for not giving her a good life, for not keeping her by my side."

After saying that, he covered his face in pain, looking utterly despairing.

After hearing this much, Molly more or less understood why Asher had lost control of his emotions.

During this time, Molly had had quite a bit of contact with Asher too, and she knew what kind of person he was.

Asher wasn't very good at socializing, and he didn't have the romantic flair most men did, but he was an ambitious, responsible good man.

His girlfriend had probably been sweet-talked and deceived by another man, and after comparing them, she decided this was wrong with Asher and that was wrong with Asher, so she dumped him.

And Asher felt like he hadn't managed to keep his girlfriend, so his emotions erupted and he got stuck in a dead end.

She still had to give him a little hope.

Molly cleared her throat lightly and said, "She already kicked you to the curb, and you still think you've wronged her? You're even blaming yourself for not keeping her? What kind of world-class simp are you?"

Asher froze for a moment. He really had sunk into exactly that kind of emotion, feeling that he hadn't been good enough, which was why he hadn't been able to keep his girlfriend.

But now Molly's words suddenly made him feel that maybe it wasn't entirely his fault either.

Molly sighed and comforted him, "Designer An, actually, you're very talented. Your girlfriend just didn't know how to appreciate you. You're definitely going to make it big someday, and when that happens, your girlfriend will absolutely regret it. When you look back then, you'll realize that the you right now is nothing but a joke."

Asher looked at Molly with a bewildered expression. Thinking it over along the lines of what she had said, he really did feel like it wasn't such a big deal.

Maybe he had trapped himself.

Seeing that Asher no longer looked as dejected as when she had first arrived, and that he was obviously much more spirited now,

she asked in surprise, "Designer An, have you worked it out?"

Asher smiled at Molly. "That's right, I've worked it out. Tomorrow I'll go back to the office. My new product has to be launched!"

"That's great!" Molly was so moved she was almost in tears. Wiping at the corners of her eyes, she choked up and said, "Heaven rewards the sincere. It wasn't for nothing that I came here personally to talk sense into you. Tomorrow our new product launch is definitely going to go smoothly!"

...

Asher's disappearance had brought all of Manzhen's work to a standstill, so Claire Bennett simply gave herself a few days off.
