Chapter 66
That Kind of Ex-Girlfriend
Outside were Luna Brooks and Meng Lifen.
Claire Bennett and Ruby Sterling turned to look, and at a glance saw the two flashy, overdressed women not far away.
They both fell silent at the same time.
Ruby Sterling's car windows were heavily tinted, so it was impossible to see inside. Luna Brooks and Meng Lifen actually hadn't noticed them in the car.
The two women's voices carried in from outside as well...
Luna Brooks frowned and said unhappily, "Naomi Pierce even told us to go look for Claire Bennett. I don't think she came at all!"
"Forget it. We've looked anyway, and Claire Bennett just isn't here."
"Naomi said she has dirt on Claire Bennett. If she doesn't come, there won't be any good show to watch."
"Well, there's nothing we can do about that. Who told Claire Bennett not to show up? Come on, let's hurry back. I just saw Foryear Media's boss—we've got to seize the chance!"
"Right, let's get back."
Their voices gradually faded into the distance.
A chill flashed through Claire Bennett's eyes. The words "dirt on her" that Luna Brooks and Meng Lifen had just said rang clearly in her ears.
She suddenly remembered that she still had Naomi Pierce's little video in her possession.
Who said you needed a man to slap someone in the face? With something like that now, she could give Naomi Pierce a vicious slap in the face too!
If she got knocked down, then she wouldn't be Claire Bennett.
She had always been the kind of person who refused to admit defeat, the more setbacks she faced, the fiercer she became. This was only a small difficulty—how could she sink into dejection and disappointment just because of this?
Naomi Pierce wanted a happy, blissful engagement to Ethan Sterling?
She wanted to see whether, after Ethan Sterling watched the video, they could still keep smiling and go on with the engagement!
"Ruby, I've changed my mind." Claire Bennett's eyes blazed, her face shining with confident radiance as she smiled and said, "We're going to Ethan Sterling's engagement party."
...
In front of Naomi Pierce, several rich young women were looking at her with envy on their faces.
"Wow, Miss Pierce, you actually get to have your engagement at Dream Castle. That's seriously so enviable. Last time I asked my dad to book this place for my birthday party, and it couldn't be done."
Naomi Pierce let out a light laugh. "It's all because of Ethan. He said he wanted to make me the happiest bride."
"Manager Sterling is amazing. My boyfriend's nothing like that—he's completely useless. If I wanted him to give me an engagement party this grand, I'd probably have to wait until my next life. Naomi, you must have saved the galaxy to find a fiancé like this, right?"
"Can you teach us some tricks? How do you find such a good man?"
"Exactly, Naomi, don't keep it to yourself."
Naomi Pierce laughed. "What tricks could there be? Ethan fell in love with me at first sight."
"Well, that's because you're gentle and beautiful."
At that moment, someone suddenly said, "By the way, I heard Ethan Sterling has an ex-girlfriend who's been clinging to him and won't let go. You were even kind enough to invite her to the engagement party. Aren't you afraid she'll make trouble?"
At the mention of Claire Bennett, a trace of coldness flashed through Naomi Pierce's eyes.
She suppressed it at once and said helplessly, "There's nothing I can do. She just won't give up. She said she wanted to witness the love between Ethan and me, so I had no choice but to let her come."
Naomi Pierce looked utterly helpless, gentle, and easygoing.
She sighed and said, "Actually, the reason Ethan broke up with her was because she hooked up with a manager at Sterling International. She cheated on Ethan and betrayed him. I even got that kind of video of her and that manager. I really feel bad for Ethan, running into an ex-girlfriend like that..."
"What!" someone exclaimed.
The rich young women around her all showed looks of contempt and began condemning Claire Bennett one after another.
"That woman cheated herself, and she still has the nerve to keep pestering Ethan Sterling? That's way too shameless."
"I've never seen anyone so brazenly shameless in my life."
"Exactly! Good thing Ethan Sterling met you. Otherwise, he might still be getting pestered by that woman."
Some of the more blunt-tempered women even said directly, "Naomi, don't be scared. When she gets here later, I'll make sure to really 'take care' of her for you. I'm best at dealing with shameless women like that!"
"Ah? Wouldn't that be kind of inappropriate?" Naomi Pierce said hesitantly.
"Naomi, don't be so kind. She's already come right to your doorstep—are you still going to put up with it?"
Hearing that, Naomi Pierce lightly bit her lip and agreed with a half-reluctant, half-willing look.
At that moment, one of the rich young women noticed the gown Naomi Pierce was wearing and asked curiously, "Naomi, your dress looks like one designed by alice."
"It really does look like alice's design. I heard she's Vivian Yu's apprentice. A lot of rich wives can't book Vivian Yu's gowns, so they all go to her instead!"
Naomi Pierce lightly brushed her hair and said somewhat helplessly, "Vivian Yu has to attend Fashion Week lately, so she couldn't design one for me. I could only go with someone else."
The others immediately started buttering her up. "Oh please, even getting alice is nearly impossible for us. You're already amazing."
"Exactly, that's so enviable!"
Just as the group was in the middle of lavishing praise on her, a cry of surprise suddenly rang out from the entrance.
Everyone turned to look, and an exquisitely beautiful figure appeared before their eyes.
Claire Bennett, dressed in a pure white evening gown, walked in with elegant steps. The design of her gown was exquisite, outlining her waist in a tight, slender curve, and that soft, alluring face of hers was even more flawless and perfect.
