Chapter 678
Bonus: The Continuation of Love 1
Whatever nonsense he was saying—she didn’t feel like she’d waited too long. She was only worried about his health.
Julian Sterling had already gone into the bathroom, and soon the sound of rushing water came from inside. Claire Bennett waited for him outside, and when she thought of what he had just said, her cheeks flushed again in embarrassment.
Before long, the bathroom door opened, and Julian Sterling walked out wearing a red silk bathrobe. His firm chest was still damp, and the lines rising and falling across it looked especially sexy.
He walked toward Claire Bennett, then bent his legs and climbed onto the bed to sit beside her.
"Claire, Grandpa and Grandma told me just now to work harder tonight and try to let them hold a great-grandchild next year."
When Claire Bennett heard that, she gave a light cough and said, "Kids aren’t something you can just have whenever you want. What do you think this is, buying cabbages at the market? Didn’t we try for so long before without any results? Maybe we really won’t be able to have children."
Even though she had gone for tests herself and nothing was wrong, Claire Bennett still wasn’t very optimistic.
Seeing how dejected Claire Bennett looked, Julian Sterling quickly comforted her. "But I already turned them down. I said it wasn’t easy for us to make it to today, and I can’t bear to see you get hurt again, including from having a baby. So if we don’t have children, then we’ll just live our life as a couple."
Hearing Julian Sterling’s words, Claire Bennett threw herself into his arms, deeply moved.
She wrapped her arms tightly around Julian Sterling’s neck and offered him her lips. "Julian Sterling, you’re really too good to me."
How could Julian Sterling possibly resist a woman throwing herself into his arms like that? Very quickly, he turned over and pinned her beneath him.
...
One year later.
Claire Bennett had always thought that she and Julian Sterling would never have children, but unexpectedly, they hit the mark on their wedding night and conceived their child. After nine months of pregnancy, Claire Bennett was finally about to give birth.
Long before Claire Bennett went into labor, Julian Sterling had already been so nervous that he arranged for her to move into the hospital early to wait for delivery.
Claire Bennett felt like she might be the first person to get this kind of treatment. Unfortunately, after she moved into the hospital, the baby still showed no sign of coming. It stayed obediently inside Claire Bennett’s belly, with absolutely no intention of coming out.
Even as her due date had already passed, the baby still stayed put as steady as a rock.
Claire Bennett couldn’t help getting nervous too. During that time, quite a few people had come to the hospital to visit her and offer comfort. Ruby Sterling even lectured Claire Bennett’s belly, telling her little nephew to hurry up and come out and stop making his sister-in-law and brother worry.
Taking advantage of the crowd today, Ruby Sterling asked Claire Bennett whether they had picked a name for the baby in her belly yet.
Claire Bennett looked at Julian Sterling with a blank, bewildered expression, then shook her head.
She hadn’t decided yet. She had been thinking they would wait until after the birth to see whether it was a boy or a girl, then flip through a dictionary and pick a nice-sounding name. As for Julian Sterling, he had been worried about Claire Bennett’s health and hadn’t given any thought at all to naming the baby.
Seeing the baffled looks on both their faces, Ruby Sterling couldn’t help sighing. "Oh, come on! You two really are first-time parents. A child’s name is so important. If you don’t decide now and then rush to come up with one later, my little nephew is going to cry when he grows up."
Claire Bennett lowered her head guiltily. She felt that they really should pick a name. It was all her fault for not thinking of it.
She looked at Julian Sterling and said, "How about bringing me a dictionary? We should hurry and give the baby a name before it’s born."
After saying that, Claire Bennett added, "We should come up with both a boy’s name and a girl’s name. After all, we don’t know whether the baby is a boy or a girl, so we have to prepare both in case one won’t be usable later."
Ruby Sterling quickly said, "Seriously, you two... I’ll go find some dictionaries for you right now, and then you can pick from them. We absolutely have to give my little nephew a good name."
After saying that, Ruby Sterling ran out. In less than half a day, she came back carrying a huge pile of books—dictionaries, the Four Books and Five Classics, all of them excellent tools for naming a child.
Claire Bennett sat there with her belly sticking out, watching them gather together to discuss her child’s name.
"What about this one?"
"No, we need to come up with more than one, otherwise there won’t be enough options later."
Ruby Sterling enthusiastically began picking names for Claire Bennett’s child, looking even more invested than she would have been with her own child, while Claire Bennett was only responsible for deciding on the baby’s name.
A faint smile curved Claire Bennett’s lips as she watched everyone worry over her child’s name. She felt that before this child was even born, it was already receiving so much attention. In the future, it would surely be a deeply cherished little one.
In the end, Ruby Sterling filled the paper with names in sweeping strokes. The names were divided into two columns, one for boys’ names and the other for girls’ names. As Claire Bennett looked down the list, she hadn’t expected that the combinations actually sounded quite nice, and for a moment she found it hard to choose.
She frowned and said, "There are so many names, it feels a little hard to pick. This one is good, and this one seems pretty good too..."
Seeing that Claire Bennett still couldn’t decide, Ruby Sterling smiled and said, "Claire, since you can’t choose, isn’t that easy? Let my little nephew choose for himself!"
Claire Bennett shook her head helplessly. A baby had to be taken care of right after being born, so how was he supposed to choose for himself?
Ruby Sterling seemed to notice what Claire Bennett was thinking, and she smiled again. "Claire, just watch me!"
After saying that, she placed her hand on Claire Bennett’s belly and said with a smile, "Now your dad and mom are picking your name. I’m going to start reading your names, and if you agree with one, kick your mommy once."
Claire Bennett hadn’t expected that there could actually be such a method. She could only helplessly let Ruby Sterling go through with it.
Very quickly, Ruby Sterling picked up the list and began reading aloud. "Then I’m starting now—Luke Sterling, Ethan Sterling... Lulu... huh?"
When Ruby Sterling read the name Lulu, Claire Bennett’s belly was suddenly kicked once. Ruby Sterling widened her eyes in surprise. "He moved! My little nephew is going to be called Lulu from now on!"
