The Scumbag's Uncle, My Fortune

Ch. 86 - Seeing an Old Friend

Chapter 86

Seeing an Old Friend

That night, Claire Bennett had a strange dream.

She dreamed that she was making a scene about getting a divorce, and then Julian Sterling actually took out the contract they had signed in the beginning and forced her to pay him back.

But she had no money to repay Julian Sterling, so all she could do was cry and beg him to let her off.

Later, Julian Sterling said she could pay off the debt with her body, and then they started rolling around inside the tent, the scene unbearably shameful...

The next day, Claire Bennett opened her eyes in a daze, and it took her a while to make out what was in front of her.

They had come out camping, and they were staying in a tent.

She bolted upright and checked the clothes on her body. To her surprise, everything was still on properly without the slightest problem, so she had been dreaming last night?

Oh my God! Claire Bennett smacked her forehead. Was she crazy? How could she have a dream that messy and ridiculous?

Could it be that what you think about in the day, you dream about at night?

Had her dirty thoughts about Julian Sterling gotten so hard to suppress that even in her dream she wanted to pounce on him?

Claire Bennett didn't dare keep thinking about it. She hurriedly straightened herself up, got to her feet, and unzipped the tent.

On the fabric chair outside, Julian Sterling was sitting there leisurely drinking coffee. Fresh air rushed at her from all around, lush greenery everywhere; the scenery in the wild was deeply soothing.

She hadn't expected him to be awake so early.

Silently, she took her things to wash up.

A moment later, Claire Bennett walked over and sat down beside Julian Sterling. "Why are you up so early? Is it because you're not used to sleeping outside?"

Julian Sterling poured her a cup of coffee. "Mm."

Just as Claire Bennett was about to say something, her phone suddenly rang. When she saw the number on the screen, her expression changed slightly. "I need to take this."

After saying that, she walked off to the side with her phone.

Watching Claire Bennett act so secretive and guilty, Julian Sterling's eyes darkened.

Whose call was she taking that she had to sneak around and avoid him like this?

After walking to a spot where no one was around, Claire Bennett finally swiped to answer. "Hello, Sean, why are you suddenly calling me? Did something happen?"

"Claire, what's this about an engagement party? I heard Uncle had someone send you a gift, but a lot happened at the engagement party. Are you okay?"

Claire Bennett froze. She hadn't expected Victor Bennett to know about the engagement?

He had even sent a gift?

Too bad that engagement party wasn't hers, but Ethan Sterling's and Naomi Pierce's. And she had stirred up a mess there too. She had no idea what happened afterward, but it probably couldn't go through and the whole thing fell apart.

After all, Naomi Pierce had exposed a video like that. If Ethan Sterling could still swallow that, then who knew whether it was true love or just broad-mindedness.

"Sean, tell him he doesn't need to come. There isn't any engagement party."

"Uncle's been really busy lately, so he doesn't have time to come find you. He asked me to come to Chicago and see whether you need anything. Where are you right now? I'll get to Chicago this afternoon, so hurry and come pick me up at the airport!"

Sean Shaw had actually come to Chicago?

Claire Bennett felt a burst of delight and quickly said, "Okay, I'll come get you right away."

Sean Shaw was a relative on her mother's side. Ever since they were little, this older cousin had doted on her, and Claire Bennett had always liked this cousin too. But after they grew up, they each had their own lives, and then later her mother and Victor Bennett had a falling-out, the two families' relationship soured, and they gradually drifted apart.

But during holidays and festivals, she and Sean Shaw would still send each other greetings and keep in touch once in a while.

She had never expected him to come to Chicago, and Claire Bennett, who had no relatives in Chicago, was extremely happy.

She hurried back to Julian Sterling and said, "Julian Sterling, I have something urgent to take care of, so I need to head back first. You go have fun with Ruby and the others."

Julian Sterling's eyes darkened. "Where are you going?"

"A friend of mine came to Chicago. I need to go to the airport to pick him up."

"A friend?"

"An old friend of mine." Claire Bennett didn't want to reveal her identity, so she gave a vague explanation. After saying that, she turned around and went back to the tent to pack her things.
