Chapter 117
The Silent Motion
No sound, no music, no voices.
Just motion.
Priya entered the annex corridor and watched the switch panel change states twice without audible signal.
"Motion-only event," she said.
Elise compared the clip.
No visible speaker, no voice, no click.
Mara said, "Motion was used to hide a manual override."
Bell asked if the law could accept invisible triggers.
Priya replied, "If we can prove trigger state changed, yes."
In hearing, they submitted one new clause:
Silent motion events require owner sign-off when witness channel is active.
The judge listened and wrote long notes.
"Can we verify who issued trigger command?" he asked.
Elise answered with owner alias mismatch and unregistered key entries.
Mara presented the stairwell logs to show command timing aligned with hearing queue.
The clerk said review continues and called for external signature witness.
Elise felt the room still and wrote the line: "silence is not neutral."
In the evening, she found one of the old maintenance notes under a plant pot.
Silent motion is usually deliberate.
She laughed at the plainness of it.
The unknown source sent one text:
**Don't trust silence as proof that nothing happened.
Elise folded the note and added one short final line:
Then we trust logs, witness, and time.
