Ch. 138 - The Hidden Corridor

Chapter 138

The Hidden Corridor

It started with a draft map that had no hallway names.

Only one long line and one phrase: "If the corridor hides itself, begin there."

Priya brought in an old digital floor plan from city archives.

"There is a mismatch," she said. "This line doesn’t belong in this building."

Elise and Bell drove there before dawn and found the building’s old foundation sketch in a municipal file.

The sketch had an extra corridor drawn in hand, not ink.

At the back of Unit 14B, they lifted a panel and saw two screws set backward.

Behind it, a narrow concrete corridor with old emergency cables and a fresh tape line.

Elise stepped in.

Bell followed with the recorder.

The corridor smelled like damp paper and old carpet glue.

Halfway along, a small brass plate marked "Archive Return."

Priya read the plate’s serial through her phone lens.

CA-03 / Archive Return / Do not log.

Elise froze.

"Do not log is exactly why this route exists."

Priya found a hidden camera lens near the floor joint.

The lens pointed backward, toward the apartment hallway.

They filmed everything that passed the corridor. Bell said.

"Or everything that did not pass," Elise said.

At the end of the corridor they found a console with three old folders and a hard drive wrapped in silk.

The drive opened to logs with labels:

Doorless Entry Nameless Voice Priority Delete

Elise looked at Bell.

"This is not one leak. This is an architecture for deleting witness history."

By noon, she had requested an independent forensic copy.

Before she left, Priya sent a final message from her phone:

My route checker says there is a live feed from Corridor A to court backup room, active now.

Elise smiled without confidence.

"Then the hidden corridor is no longer hidden."
