Claire opened Mara's private file.
Inside was a trust agreement dated three days before the accident.
Beneficiary: Claire Rowan.
The assets included Cabin 12, the old clinic, and a controlling share of Continuity Holdings.
“Mara owned the program,” Tess said.
“She owned the shell,” Claire answered.
“That is still ownership.”
Mara's model stood beside the vault.
“I bought the company to stop Everett.”
“You became him,” Claire said.
Mara did not deny it.
“I thought ownership could be used to dismantle ownership.”
“It cannot.”
“You are right.”
The trust agreement contained a final clause.
The beneficiary must accept the archive before distributing it.
Claire felt the old pressure return. The program was trying to make her owner through refusal. If she rejected the trust, Everett retained control. If she accepted it, she became the person who decided what happened to every patient.
“You planned this,” Claire said.
Mara looked away.
“I planned for a person better than me.”
“That is not a plan. It is another burden.”
Claire tore the acceptance page.
The vault alarm began to ring.
The manager said, “You have destroyed the only legal route to release.”
Claire held up the torn page.
“Then we build another.”
