Chapter 150
Room Twenty-One
Room Twenty-One was a courthouse made of glass.
Every person who had received a record could see every other person. There were no private corners, no hidden benches, no judge's chair.
The first question appeared over the floor.
WHO WILL CARRY THE CONSEQUENCE?
Claire looked at the crowd.
“Not one person.”
The room rejected the answer.
“Then everyone who speaks must carry part of it,” Aster said.
The glass walls brightened.
Mara stepped forward with her public file. “I will carry the harm I caused.”
Daniel followed. “I will carry the decisions I made for Elise and Rowan.”
Claire held her private file. “I will carry the hours I gave away without making them public.”
The room accepted the three statements.
Then it asked for Everett Bell.
The owner chair appeared empty.

Everett's chair remained empty.
The system searched every room for his model and found only fragments: a voice in the hospital, a face on the Mercy, a signature beneath a trust.
“He has no single identity,” Claire said.
“That is how he avoided responsibility,” Mara answered.
Aster pointed at the empty chair. “Then make the fragments answer together.”
Every fragment appeared in the glass courtroom.
The boy. The owner. The nurse. The captain. The judge.
Each claimed to be Everett Bell.
The room asked, WHO IS RESPONSIBLE?
The fragments answered together, “The system.”
Claire wrote, “The person who built it.”
The boy said, “I was afraid.”
The owner said, “I was profitable.”
The captain said, “I was continuity.”
The judge said, “I was authorized.”
The answer became impossible to separate.
The room marked Everett collectively responsible.
The empty chair collapsed.
Room Twenty-Two opened beneath the market.
