Claire stopped it.
“An answer that closes the question can become another lie.”
The room accepted uncertainty.
Mara sat beside Claire.
“You are not going to forgive me,” she said.
“Forgiveness is not a record I can issue.”
“Then what are you giving me?”
“A chance to answer for what you did.”
The room opened.
