Chapter 199
The Dream She Did Not Record
Claire dreamed of Lena without the archive.
They were sitting in a kitchen neither had lived in. Lena was laughing. Claire did not ask what the laughter meant.
When Claire woke, she did not write it down.
She did not tell Mara. She did not tell Aster. She kept the dream private because it belonged to the person who had dreamed it.
The archive remained silent.
The next morning, Room Fifty-Eight opened.
Its door carried one sentence:
A PRIVATE MEMORY CAN STILL CHANGE A PUBLIC LIFE.
