The House Learns Her Voice
The smart system began obeying commands in Claire's sedated voice. Doors locked, heat climbed, and the cellar flooded.
Claire stopped trying to override herself. She cut power at the street and opened the mechanical vents Mae had marked in old drawings.
Lucy found Ruth in the observation corridor, brought there by a clinic orderly who expected the automated house to hide her.
The orderly escaped, but dropped a live access token bearing Shaw's initials.
